When is enough enough? 20 years of bad decisions so the next one is okay since the rest of them are bad is not very sound.

I don't understand why athletes need this level of pampering when they are already spoiled little shits absent of reality.

So if the state of Alabama does this and keeps pace with it's competitors then what do you think about the money that will be generated, in comparison to us going 5-7 with no sellouts, and the city of Auburn restaurants and retail shops making less? We sell our souls and pay a pampered athlete, but flourish economically overall. Don't we spend money to make money? Ohio St spent 20 million (NIL) and their university benefits and brings in 5x that, so they'll gladly pay the price. Not to mention the jobs and support created when you have a winner.

Auburn has survived worse.

Need to clear the lines a little. Is Auburn an institution higher learning or a football factory and that’s all that matters?

Need to re-focus the education portion of these major universities. If the elite don’t want to come to a historical football power then that’s a loss for the player. Auburn fans will continue to show up for years. Look at South Carolina and Nebraska.

I see Auburn as both. One of the best schools for Vet medicine in America that just so happens to have one of the most storied football programs in the land. I don't need to tell you how important a recruiting tool a great athletic department can be for the educational side of things right? You vote no, and that's cool too man.

But where does it end? (It doesn't) Just set the damned program on fire! If you give them tax free then they will still expect more money despite practicing in shorts and shells twenty times more frequent than athletes twenty years ago. It's madness

Ammend it to include all citizens and i'm totally on board. Otherwise, it is moronic.

I've never contacted a politician for but I immediately reached out to my state rep after hearing about that. It pissed me off irrationally. I never heard back and it won't make a difference but it made me feel better for like 10 seconds so whatever.

Does he? Cam Coleman being on the team didn't make me watch 1 extra or less second of football last year.

I wish all the money guys would just go off to an official minor league and college football could return to guys playing for the school they are in school at. I'd watch that Auburn team way before mercenaries bumping around to the highest bidder.

If NIL wants to buy him he would be a great get. Better pay him extra to adjust for state tax. Or launder for him.

To be honest I don't really care that much anymore. Auburn sports was such a huge part of my life I can't really see myself completely detaching from it and I enjoy the community aspect of it and like to be informed and be able to discuss it. I still enjoy the times I'm able to take my kids to Auburn and spend a nice fall/spring day on campus and watch a game so I'm still here for all of that.

But the reality is I'm older now and trying to raise three kids coming up on car/college age and getting squeezed like the rest of the middle class and so seeing things like this pisses me off. I mean it's already absurd what they're getting paid and given the freedom to do and now to provide tax benefits that people with actual responsibilities and jobs don't receive is ludicrous to me and a massive turnoff for me wanting to spend time/money supporting as well as another example of our loss of focus on what matters in society.

Now, get off my lawn. Oh, and War Eagle!

ETA: I do really want to see Bruce win a title though. He deserves it.

Tone deaf is a great phrase to categorize this proposed bill.

I don't understand who supports it? Anytime there is a thread on this website, full of huge college sports fans, regarding NIL and contributing the vast majority are totally put off by the whole thing. If we, as sports fans, don't support this garbage who does?

It is so hypocritical for lawmakers to constantly stand there and flow BS about how "rich people" or people who make a lot of money need to pay more then say that these guys should be exempt because it would help football recruiting

Senseless.

I'm no Bernie Sanders, I think rich people do pay a fair share in taxes generally speaking. That's why this is so baffling. Why not stop taxing athletes in the official professional leagues as well?

As a Ga res I hope it doesn’t pass too. If they are trying to overcome Tenn and Fla laws then change the laws for everyone

High income people pay more than their fair share of taxes. One could make the argument that high income 1099 and self employed people are taxed higher than other high income individuals. But all pay far too much.
