My wife (no pics) is a UK fan, so I sometimes find myself having to watch them during basketball season. I enjoy basketball, but don't watch as much these days as I once did. Last night, the flopping from UGA was pretty crazy and they were getting a lot of calls on some crazy shite. I'm not saying that's why they won the game, but it didn't hurt and the foul line differential was substantial.

We have to go to UGA's house in a few weeks and I suspect we'll see the same sort of thing. How do you combat that, defensively? I know bama last season and Duke this season had a lot of bite from the refs. Do you just rotate frequently and save Broome for late, play looser or what? I don't usually like more judgement rules for refs to exploit in games, but the flopping thing in sports seems out of control.

The free throw imbalance in that game was shocking considering it was UK. UK lost big and hit 9 more FGs in the game.

Refs were supposed to make it an emphasis this year to call teams for flopping.

Of course, they are awful and will call it all or nothing in games. There will be a game later this season where a crew will call multiple flopping calls and whistle will blow constantly. There will also be more games like the UK/UGA game where clear flops aren't called correctly all game.

Jared Harper was a master at flopping.

Stolen from tRant, but from this angle this looks awful. Maybe from the ref's angle you can see more of a push, but from here there does not seem to be much there. Yes, he gets a hand to the UGA guy's back, but that happens on every rebound to try and box out. UGA guy doesn't even try to go for the rebound, he starts twisting immediately when he starts his jump.

Mizzou are the king of flops. Thats their whole strategy is to get “fouled” and get to the FT line.

Throw a lot of bodies but it’s also playing understanding that they’re going to flop. It’s on the opposing HC to get in the officials ears before the game so they’re looking for it. Most refs have eyes on the ball so when they see a body go flying they just assume what happened. The uga game was like something I’ve never seen before. They will not only stop getting those calls but will start getting T’d up for it.
