I don't know, that guy sounded pretty fired up, to me, on Gane Day. And now he has extra incentive to work as hard, or harder, at the next place.

I don't think our admins could get their shite together long enough to hire Franklin, but, if they could, we'd be crazy not to take a chance on a guy who's proven he can get a team in the playoffs, and is driven to prove he can win big games.

I’ve now gone to church and the gym, and he’s still not fired?! What the hell! We are the laughing stock of CFB right now with him leading the way

I keep hoping for an unscheduled presser. I'm assuming we have to give Cohen time to let it sink in that he blew this hire.

So crazy he isn't already gone. I still think we see a few coaches get axed today.

I’d rather the AD be on the phone with potential candidates and get a yes first, so we don’t end up with someone Cohen shared a hot tub at a swingers party one time.

I am iffy on Franklin. I didn't like some off-the-field stuff that happened at Vandy. While he had nothing to do with it, the way he handled it was a "bad look" in my opinion. I don't like his record against top opponents (which is an every week thing in the SEC). I am not arguing he wouldn't be an improvement, but I am still "meh" about it overall.

I am with metafour. I want a young guy. Some of the best coaches were late 30's/early 40's when they were hired (Smart, Day, Swinney, Bob Stoops, Meyer, etc.). Dye was 41 at Auburn.

People look at Saban and think that is how you hire coaches. That you can't have a successful coach unless he already has a natty and was an NFL head coach. Saban was a massive outlier.

The longer we wait, the tougher it will be to get a good coach.

The NFL has also moved to this model. Many of the current top teams are fielding young, upstart, first-time head coaches who were hired as coordinators. They have learned that this has a higher success-rate than going with retreads or "proven coaches" who are past their prime.

There used to be a time when NFL franchises were obsessed with recycling the same group of retread head coaches. That doesn't really happen anymore.

If he stays for the full season, he’ll somehow get lucky and beat bama then we’ll be fricked with him for another 2 years

Not to mention all the jobs that are open/opening and everyone is gonna want the same coaches. We can’t be left with the scraps this year like we seemingly were with freeze.

It would be so great on Auburn to fire him after beating Bama. The crimson would explode

You only fire Freeze now if you know you want Durkin to be the next possible head coach.

Who beat us to what coaches last time??

If anything, Kiffen elected to stay at Ole Miss because of his kids (speculated).

The money people liked Hugh Freeze (as did many, many others). Very reasonable hire. The money people probably had even more sway because Cohen was new.

Cohen had Mike Elko high on his list. Would have been a very good hire, obviously.

Some of you self-loathing Auburn fans need to realize that Auburn is a very attractive job. Especially now with NIL.

You are basically gauranteed 4 or 5 SEC wins a year with a top 3 home field advantage - split your road games and you are in the playoff.

Before Freeze throw out the abysmal Harsin / Greene tenure and every modern Auburn coach has competed for a National Championship.

I was happy with the Freeze hire at the time because I thought he was a good fit and I knew he could recruit.

It seems like nobody else was wanting him and we “missed” on Kiffin… whatever happened with that.
