I misread your meaning then. Thank you for the clarification. I was assuming you were referring to the other two to pick up their game.

I think if they weren't neck and neck they would have named a starter and not waited to see them over the next week. Also if JJ is that far ahead of KF and JW I don't think he redshirts so he could be ahead of Marshall right now. They've been here the same amount of time and JJ was the one everyone was praising yesterday.

** Frost is about where he was in the spring, but Holland has really improved.
** McKinzy didn't scrimmage much on Saturday because Johnson wanted to see the other two play.

This is why we can't have nice things.

** Justin Garrett did not practice today. Johnson doesn't have an evaluation. Says that Garrett couldn't push off the leg.
** Garrett had missed one practice due to a bruised knee, but it was his right knee. Garrett's injury now is to his left ankle.
** MacKenro Alexander got quite a few reps, made some good tackles in relief of Robenson Therezie. ** Garrett's one of the "impact players" on the defense, but Johnson says he doesn't have any knowledge of how serious the injury is.

** Carl Lawson and Elijah Daniel have looked good physically, but their heads are swimming a little bit on scheme, and Johnson needs to see some more big plays.

I love that one because Biden is laughing and nodding while looking irritated as frick.

He has proven that he can be a tackling machine, as evidenced by his 12 tackle performance against Vanderbilt as a true freshman.

I don't see how this is even possible. I mean, I can in one way, and that's in the sense of him being SO frickING TERRIBLE last season and the year before (maybe he's improved upon all of that). But really, what is he doing that's so special? Kris Frost should've won this job during the spring. This is Jake Holland we're talking about. I still have suspicion that he's ahead of Kris Frost due to his knowledge of the defense and not actual on the field results.

So were Junior Rosegreen and Mo Claiborne...

I've never gotten the sense that he's low on the intelligence pole either, though...

Neither of those players were middle backers who made the defensive calls

Rey Maualuga scored a 15 on the Wonderlic, which is a pretty low score. He started for USC for a lot of years.

I don't think Kris Frost is dumb. He may just be having trouble adjusting to the 3rd different defensive scheme in said consecutive years, while Jake Holland is excelling in that department.

** He was impressed with Kamryn Melton on Saturday.

** He said Justin Delaine has shown some things as a pass rusher off the edge.

Could really use Delaine if Ford is injured again.
