Apparently some of the players disagreed with assessments made from the scrimmage. Gus let them know that it's not their job to agree or disagree, so to speak. I think that got ironed out quick and hopefully it sets a positive tone with the team going forward. But I heard the practice got a little more intense because of that. Players left workouts today tired.

We desperately need someone who can get WRs the ball who are open - wherever the hell they are. (can they get open???)

I know he can speak for himself, but I'm pretty sure he meant the coaches assessment

My general understanding is that a defensive coach was addressing his unit about a particular technique he was trying to adjust and the players were not cooperative with the instruction because they didn't necessarily like it. That coach let them know it wasn't their call and Gus addressed units as a whole about attitude and effort.
I don't know the particular coach or unit but I was led to believe it was Harbison's guys.

I would just tell those guys "Uh, 3-9?" Hopefully some egos are getting checked this camp. No one on the team right now has really shown they know what is right. Glad to see Gus get on top of this

Do not like this:
But, we knew the coaches were going to have to do work.

** Malzahn says Auburn's defense made plays when they had to. "Individually, it was probably hit or miss," Malzahn said.

Yeah, you are probably right. Visions of whiffed tackles keep dancing in my head.

This is somewhat true but I believe Cass was not here for Roof and Frost got hurt is first year on campus so really only BVG and Johnson have evaluated them.
Yes, this is why I referred to his "competition" rather than McKinzey and Frost.
But the fact is that under Roof, Van Gorder, and Ellis, whatever competition he's faced so far, he's been chosen above that competition.
We don't have to like it. I don't like it. But its the truth.
If Holland keeps winning the job, maybe that's more a comment on HIS COMPETITION rather than it is on Holland.

Johnson hasn't chosen him yet. Still got 3+ weeks to go until kickoff.
