It’s weird you say that because I expected the offense to be ahead of the defense this time. So many positions open on offense and the walk throughs they have been able to have over summer. Tackling will be an issue because of 8 months no contact. Expect by week 3 of camp to see them figure it out on both sides and be humming pretty good. Sounds like fall is going to be extremely physical kinda worries me with 10 straight sec games. Well 2 open dates as well but you get my point. Any of the true Freshmen that play this year might be physically and mentally worn down by game 6-7

Yea, I feel like that has been the case the past couple years. Seems like the offense seems to get some good reviews after the first scrimmage the past few years. Then the next few the defense takes over.

When has that ever happened under the Malzahn era?

First time I was expecting it because of lack of tackling in the spring. As stated above and the extra walk through a in the summer to be able to get blocking schemes.
I’m hearing the front 5 for now is....
Trox, Manning, Brahms, Council, Ham left to right
Second
Big Z, Stutts, Irving, Jones, Coffey (Jackson would be LT if Zeier isn’t healthy enough to go)
And still hearing it’s Joiner 1A Williams 1B, Tank, Shivers, Richards
Tank could jump Joiner or Williams at anytime depending on ball security and pass pro. Tank supposedly still has homerun threat at the college level.

That could develop into a decent OL but has the potential just as much to be horrible. Troxell May turn out great but wasn’t he inside just a year ago. That’s terrifying!

Also expect Steiner to challenge OC brothers at 2 behind Britt expect him to jump Brothers by game 4-5.
I respect Wooten’s decision completely but I don’t think he will be the starter next year either.
Pappoe, Steiner, and a nickel like Tennison can you imagine the thumpers and speed in that group.
I never discount a year but ‘21 could be special

Hopefully this is the year they figure it out in fall camp and not shuffle the line after game 1. No room for error this year.

That's my hope as well but I expect some change on the OL. Trox is at a very important spot and I think longer term and for next year Big Z is the future there so the sooner he gets that spot the better. Trox can then be the 6th guy at basically any spot other then center

Hopefully Bicknell can figure out the right combination a lot sooner than Grimes could. It seemed like the season would almost be a month over and they still didn’t have it figured out.

Pappoe, Steiner
Definitely would be our most athletic LB combo

Man is great to finally have competition for playing time at linebacker again.

So you’re saying Harold is RB1 right now?

FWIW, the RBs have evenly split carries so far and DJ has been out. I wouldn’t put stock into any depth chart there, yet.

Per Dukes.
Pappoe is looking like a freak and laying some wood.
Newkirk and Trusdale and D. Hall have been impress on the Dline. Hall is playing both sides Buck and SDE.
Sherwood is an NFL guy
Steiner is wide open and looks good
Tanner Dean is surprisingly good at LB for a walk-on
Jones looks good on the Oline
Brandon Council looks real good and has some dawg in him. He showed up from that small ball college like he was coming from Notre Dame or something.
Pegues is legit 300lbs and can move
All RBs look good. Worm has bulked up. MAR looks good running routes and catching passes.

Also, I think people don’t realize/remember that Joiner was a top 5 RB in his class. His potential is huge

He’s also our most flexible RB. He’s big enough for pass protection and short yard situations, and also allows us to keep the RB as a passing threat.

Yep, Joiner has always had all the physical tools to be an absolute monster at RB. Only question was would he be able to adapt his running style for SEC ball.
I think that answer has been a resounding yes from all reports. If so, watch out because he can do all sorts of things on the field.

I have always loved Harold. I was about the only one pimping his running ability when everyone was telling me he was too soft. Would love a bigger role for him.

I hope he puts a little more effort on that passing threat part than he did in the Uga game last year
