All one needs to do is get out if possible and experience a few other places in the world.

This ^ have had the opportunity to visit Scotland and Japan over the last 2 years. Actually have been looking at property in Scotland. Enjoyed the Japanese culture. My oldest son and his family love it. They hope they can find a way to get 3 more years there after his current assignment is up. It's a big world out there. Happy to welcome others to the US when they follow our procedures. Which are much less daunting than other places.

The Olympics are basically a joke now. I’m not sure why anyone would care.

(blue Florida sky)

Was engaged to an older lady (no pic) (no makeup) who was national championship quality until her sport became Olympic. It may not matter to you, but teenagers and twenty somethings in their prime, beg to differ. And they all want (BTW) to train with the best from all over.... including coaches.

There was it was recently dropped. It was played 1992-2008 but came back for a one off in 2021 because of the popularity of games in Tokyo.

Several people have taken this thread in many different directions. It has nothing to do with immigration or what sports are offered.

It is strictly about Federal and State tax dollars being used to house, train and support foreign athletes at Universities only to have them be able to use those advantages against the USA.

So you didn't appreciate JT Thor while he was at Auburn? Let's be real he didn't come to Auburn for the Olympics. He wanted to be in the Auburn because he wanted to play for Auburn and then go to the NBA.

I already asked that. I have no idea. We have break dancing and rock climbing now. How much you want to be, Pickleball will be soon.

Why not ball room dancing, water skiing and who can do the rubix cube the fastest?

If you are asking a let it question the decision is always money.

Many countries do not play baseball in a grand scale so there so not have the fields already in place. Also they do not have the funding or desire to add another team sport.

I respect anyone decision to come and player for Auburn but my point on that is that Auburn could have just recruited another American. If other schools had to do the same then everything would be on and even plan.

What if ever one had to build a tramwith only American players.

As far as naturalized I am not 100% sure on the rules but in general i would have no issue with a player that had one parent that was American, married to an American or even been in the country a certain amount of time say 5 years.

The Olympics isnt that important. We want to win sure, but what you're wanting is absurd. When I was a UNA bleacher creature as a youngin the basketball coach had a ton of Australian and German players on his team. Those guys didnt go pro or anything, but they helped UNA and UNA helped them. Scouting into the foreign land landed some great players in the major leagues as well and I'm sure those stadiums are tax supported. Dirk Nowitzki comes to mind. It was also foreign players that helped lift baseball's popularity.

Everyone currently does the same thing.

You want to try again?

What if ever one had to build a tramwith only American players.
- Then they might miss out on training against the best.
- And they'd do great against the other protectionist teams and with such limited and segregated talents.
- And it'd hinder developing a squad to their full potential.

Many years ago I was at the grocery store here in Trinidad at the bottom of the Caribbean. I see a tall athletic woman coming the other direction with an Auburn shirt on and so I said War Eagle. She stopped smiled and said well War Eagle, you know of Auburn?

She then told me her son, George Bovell, was a swimmer there and then just raved about Auburn the people, and in closing said "I have a younger son who swims and if Momma has her way, he will be at Auburn as well", he did.

A week or so later Im at the gym and see this tall lanky kid with an Auburn tshirt and say War Eagle to which he responds "You know where this is?" Then said, you must be the guy my mom met at the grocery she told me about it, we dont have many Auburn people here. I asked him how a kid from Trinidad ends up at Auburn and he said his parents told him if he wanted to be the best, train with the best.

He said Mr. Trinidad, we will win National Championships the whole time Im there (they did) and I could come in 2nd or 3rd in practice at Auburn and still time well enough to medal in the Olympics (he did, he won a bronze).

If all athletes who trained in the states were like this family, fantastic ambassadors for Auburn, Im all for it.

That's funny. I had Business Ethics with Bovell long ago. Never came to class, did 0 work on the group project but we got him an A. Good times.

Had a speech class with Rowdy Gaines. His class speech on the Olympic boycott brought me to tears. His providing me with a list of the multiple choice answers to the final brought me joy.

Edit: great follow up to business ethics btw

You’re pretty f@#king delusional if you think they’re going to add something as archaic as Ballroom Dancing as a competitive Olympic event.

However, I can reasonably see them considering the rest of ALL your suggestions.

I’m thinking the next wave of ridiculous Olympic events to be sanctioned are most likely gonna be in the “E-Sports” realm.

For instance…in four years from now?…this could be your potentially FIRST EVER Gold-Medalist in Olympic Fortnight
