I think the vast majority of seniors with scholarships will sit out in that case, or colleges will not allow them to play.

Ga is having a meeting today (starting soon actually) to determine what they are doing as well.. most seem to think a delay at worst, but we will see.

Edit-- it literally already happened lol. Texas A&M commit Victory Vaka (great name) just said he will skip his senior year and instead enroll early at A&M.

Most offers are based on what coaches see before senior season. The biggest impact for the 2021 class will be on late risers.

The biggest impact overall will be for the 2022 class. Football has been moved but that doesn’t guarantee it will be played if shite is still hitting the fan come Spring.

And yeah, as JT mentioned. I imagine a lot of seniors won’t play in the spring after they’ve signed. Interesting times

For those interested.. Ga high school football was pushed back 2 weeks. Everything else appears to be staying the same.

What good does pushing back 2 weeks do?

I don't understand that logic, unless they will simply be delaying again when they make the final decision on football or not...

This seems to be the main reason. The other is a hope that the two weeks will give enough time to see another reduction in cases

I also think some of it was just to give more time to train... There are still some schools who haven't started practicing yet so this gives them more time.

This is cool, except for the fact that he would need a student visa to get into the country and all US consulates are shut down at the moment. I don’t see any possible scenario where the consulate will open in time for him to process his F1 visa and come to the US by the Fall. I have multiple clients still stuck overseas because of this.

We might not have a season so it sounds like a perfect match of uncertainty

More info — he’s 21 and will be a freshman. He was playing semi-pro Aussie rules football before joining Prokick (like Siposs did).

FWIW, he expects to be at Auburn around the 1st of August

Glad to see we may be able to shelve using Nix as a punter now.

I noticed the guy that runs Prokick Australia is named Chapman. Wonder if they are related?

Could he not get a waiver to play immediately? Maybe they'll grant players that would normally have to sit a year a waiver due to the coronavirus

What I saw said as long as he pays his own way until his scholarship kicks in he will be able to play.. No idea if its correct though.

So basically he is a walkon with a scholarship kicking in when it is allowed.

So I guess if he enrolls in school in August then he can play now?

Yes, he will be able to play this season. His scholarship will take effect when he gets to campus, so it will technically count towards next year's class I believe.

You are right after finding this information on a Fanside article:

"They are eligible to both enroll and play during the initial fall semester following their high school graduation or junior college transfer, but are not counted as an incoming scholarship player until the following year’s recruiting class.

In order to count towards the next allotment of scholarships, blueshirts begin as walk-ons and are not brought on scholarship until after the first day of fall camp.

It’s a contrast from grayshirts, who are not permitted to enroll or play immediately out of high school.

The biggest distinction for blueshirts however, is that the rule interpretation mandates that the players in question are not recruited."
