I've recalibrated down my OC/DC expectations driven by the cell phone texts CHF comment at presser.

I actually thought Mason had a great bend don’t break defense minus Moo State. Obviously that game was a disaster.

However I jinxed that game myself and deserve all of the scorn. Before that game I said Mason had made great second half adjustments up to that point. During halftime I said for once he didn’t need to make any changes. And the rest is history.

However because of that game some has said he is the worst DC of all time. He wasn’t; he just had a cowardly gameplan. Running such a gameplan requires fortunate breaks, lucky bounces, and the refs favor in helping stall offensive drives.

Mason would not be a great hire but our ranks need to be thinned if people think he was the worst Auburn DC of all time.

Hopefully Mason and Freeze huddle up and decide which game they’re going to shite the bed instead of potentially doing it separately

Matt Luke as OC and OL. TROB as DC

This is what needs to happen to bring Auburn back.

Remember he was working under a HC that was probably mentally retarded. Mason opposite an offense scoring points should work. He's a smart guy that players love. The fact he is even talking to us this soon shows how much things have changed for the better

He was bad. Not Schmedding and Ellis Johnson bad, but he was close.

Exactly. Anyone wanting Mason’s soft arse rush 3 defense back needs to immediately get on testosterone treatments, because they have some seriously low T levels.

Everybody keeps saying we should be getting far more talent than the schools these guys come from are getting.

I suspect we aren't pulling Mongo and Kelley level coordinators

Mason has to bring the pressure though. He waited until the Iron Bowl to bring pressure and that was weird. I keep saying it because I believe it: If we are in shootouts, we have to stop the run, sack the quarterback, and force turnovers. Georgia gave up 506 passing yards yesterday. I think stone wall defense stuff is over. We need a complementary defense

I don’t think we have got a hard no yet.

If we were to convince him to come out of retirement then I imagine we would have to pay up and give him more than “run game coordinator” titles.
