I knew going into the series that Auburn was probably the 2nd most complete team A&M has played behind texas (yes that hurts to type), and they showed out. Has all the makings of a title contender.
Knowing the committee the way i do, there will probably be a super regional rematch in Auburn.

That was a fun series. Doubleheaders always change the vibe up during weekend matches.
Your pitching not so good but your hitting is elite

Regional hosts have a 65% chance of advancing based on last 5-6 yrs.

We will meet a team with their version of Paul Skenes and Sonny Dichiara fighting against us like we support children's cancer.

This is frankly insane what we’ve had to do the last two seasons. They’ve had a heck of a year.

Auburn graduated five seniors.
Frank Thomas the 3rd is one of the signees. Left handed first baseman with a .544 batting average. His signing was a given.
One pitcher threw a “No Hitter” last year.
Now if they can improve Terrell’s batting presence. At least put the ball in play. Striking out sucks.

Batting Coaches, in my opinion, are waste of money. As a player and a coach…..I’ve seen talent murdered by “batting coaches” . You make adjustments, but you don’t teach them to become robots. A talented ball player improves his production, but remove hand eye coordination and the batter is worthless.
I coached against and umpired with the Director of Williamsport Museum of Little League Baseball. Was invited to go up and Umpire in the World Series. Turned it down. “What you want is robots, everyone to look and act the same. I’m not a robot and unwilling to act as you demand. I’ve got my “style” it’s the same thing in hitting. Not all swings are belt high, not all meant for one side of the field.
I taught my players to make contact and simply put the ball in play. “If you watch strike three go past you, you are worthless. Put the bat on the ball.”
When you hit over .500 in a season, you are something right.”

Tony Gwynn was one of the best at this.

Ken Griffey Jr. is a prime example of this. Beautiful unorthodox swing. Also, Gary Sheffield or Jeff Bagwell.
3 of 4 are in the HOF, which Sheff should be in also

Gabe is not trying to change anyone’s style.
However, if u think they are worthless you are crazy. Read Chippers X responses to parents asking for advice. It’s been a fascinating read.

I don’t disagree with you at Bubs age. His swing is what it is. There is a huge hole in his swing and pitchers know it now. His job is to work on the weaknesses within his swing.
Bub is the most naturally gifted player on the team and it’s probably not close other than possibly Bingaman or Mason. But baseball IQ is something that has to be drilled and drilled into players.
As I said over and over and over all season you can’t strike out with a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs. Just can’t happen. Especially looking. It’s that simple. It is going to happen occasionally but when it’s late in the game and you’re down 1 just putting it in play ties the game most of the time.
Only other thing I really think we need to work on is the bunt game. From players that should be good at bunting. Sometimes I think it just willing to truly sacrifice yourself. Everyone trying to get that perfect bunt in no man’s land when all we need is to advance the runner.
Granted a lot depends on the makeup of the team. Mason, Bingaman, and some of the other freshmen that played should bring more power next season. If we find a could DH’s that can crush. We may be a gorilla ball team that plays for big innings. A lot of strategy is determined before the season starts. This year was working the count on starting pitching. Next year may be jumping on the first good pitch you see. We as fans have to live with those decisions.
Anyway I expect all our batters to improve slightly and I will always trust Butch until he gives us a couple seasons not to or appears to not have the drive for the game anymore.
