Hugh Freeze on AD John Cohen's comment this summer about August 1 being an important date in recruiting. "It's like poker. ...There haven't been a lot that have sent out something in writing, detailing exactly what they mean when they say this will be your share of whatever..." Freeze adds, "I'm still not clear what you can do outside of the revenue sharing portion. ... I don't know that anyone can say with a straight face, without deceiving, what Deloitte (NIL clearinghouse) says about deals..."

It's the wild west. If we play it safe, we're going to be safe... but even further behind. Personally, I don't see how this chaos ends. Any sort of enforcement thus far has been ultimately shot down in court, so these rules we're purporting to go by are largely toothless. Cohen doesn't seem to be the AD for times like these, but I have such an intense distaste for what college football is, I don't know that I would be satisfied "winning" the way it will increasingly take in this new world of "college" football.

Anything below 7-5 and both Freeze and Cohen need to shitcanned. Our football program is a joke

Below 9-3. We have gotten the talent in. No reason not to perform at this point. If we can only get 8-4 with what we have, does anyone really think we could even sniff a championship going forward?

8-4 would be rather decent considering the trend.
But anything else is going to draw some ire and depending on the optics maybe a new coordinator who calls the plays. Isn't that how you wind down a big payday?
