I was rooting for the PTB at the time. Didnt like how he blew off recruiting. The details are murky but I was all for a witch hunt. Harsin was a better gameday coach than Freeze but I never missed even a slightest lick.

I was as well. Right after that first season you could see he couldn't get it done with recruiting and I started hearing all kinds of stuff. He did about everything wrong at Auburn that you could do.

Great post, the problem is not that players are selfish and ungrateful. I always wonder how all these posters that lay out the “rules” they want players to live by would feel if this applied to themselves:

- You cannot leave a paid position for another paid position for 2 to 4 years

- You must be loyal and and complimentary to an employer even if they are poorly managed

- You must accept lower compensation than the market says you have earned

I wish the best to Cam Coleman, Deuce, and every other player that leaves, and I do not blame them at all.

Just so yall know, if Cam ends up at Bama, I will be riding the theory that he fumbled the ball in the Iron Bowl on purpose

Same. Sounds more realistic than he mistakingly cut inside instead of going OB then happening to fumble afterward. Between that and the OU punter trying to bounce the ball before kicking it, I wouldnt take much for me to believe it was more than mistakes to push Bama

Welcome to pro sports. Which is where we are at now. That is where this ultimately goes.

If you have a contract that you signed for that length then yes unless there is an early release or penalty clause. Same now is happening in college

Depends if there are penalties in your contract. PR is important part now

quote:

- You must accept lower compensation than the market says you have earned

Again contract terms

Players wanted to be paid...well welcome to adulthood we are now paying kids a lot of money to play a sport in college. It is no longer an amateur sport so they need to own up to the contract they signed.

Many kids sign a contract right out of HS to put their lives on the line. Not easy to get out of if you don't like the management or working conditions. At least these athletes are making a lot more money.

Former players are absolutely shredding the players that are portaling…

Chad Slate posted -

10 drops and 2 turnovers in the Iron bowl and the WRs have the audacity to ask for more money.

I think Casanova McKinzy also threw some heat as well

I’d love to hear what Jay Prosch would say. Maybe Jason Miska who was a walkon. Andrey Bruce. Kenny Irons. Some of those characters back many years ago what they would have to say about these spoiled brats.

When fall camp for weeks was 3 a days. Lift and conditioning. Install. Then practice all in one day. Then repeat the next day

Totally misread the post.

Whatever agreements there are are only on a yearly basis.

No normal person would feel like their opportunities should be restricted.

10rc just turned in another 8-5 season. Hopefully they were right about Golesh being the major reason behind their record turn around. Im ready for the 2nd. We've already took most of our licks. They will get replaced like every employee who walks off. Same Jersey jist a new name on the back

Not anymore. Some are multi-year. I believe UGA is suing a former player who signed a 14 month contract but jumped into the portal after taking ~30K or so and being sued for ~400K or so as memory serves. Others are trying over a year.

I am glad UGA is doing it as they are sticking to the contract where the player wasn't...

I agree people should abide by the terms of written agreements they have signed.

You said, “ …so they need to own up to the contract that they signed.”

You imply that you have knowledge of these terms that would invalidate my responses. In order to lend some credibility to your points just supply the written terms you are aware of.

Give it a break. Just because these players are looking at their options to see what is best for them you paint them all with a broad brush as being spoiled.

How about a little reflection on ourselves and what we should do now to make things better? Maybe it is good to let players from the last regime go do what they think is best for them, and wish them well. Maybe the process of treatment of college football players is not like it was when Kerryon Johnson, Aundray Bruce, Kenny Irons, (all great AU players), and others played.

College football is over. Just like anything that generates a shite ton of revenue, people (lawyers) always want to weasel in and get their cut. Paying players, the portal, 7 years of eligibility all allowed by Judges (lawyers). A bunch of,the players agents are lawyers. It is gonna be almost impossible to stop cause it is all being fleshed out in the courts (moar lawyers). Look at how shitty the product is on the field in these meaningless bowl games. Only thing that will stop it is TV ratings decline, season ticket sales plummet acrosss the board, and as a result TV contracts to conferences decline. Nobody should be paying for insider team websites, recruiting services any of that shite. That is a good place to start.
