Isn’t funny how far. a hip Kelly has fallen as no mention

I mean, he was about to be fired at UCLA last season before they "turned it around"

Chip falls victim to the same thing as Gus and Freeze: had super innovative offenses, and then everyone copied what they were doing, evolved it, and made it better, while they kept doing the same thing.

That's putting it mildly. The jump from SWAC to SEC, is vast. Could he succeed? Possibly, but those odds are astronomical.

Jim Tressel jumped from the Mountain Valley Conference to the Big Ten and did pretty fricking good

Brian Kelly - Grand Valley State

Lance Leipold - South Dakota Whitewater is the next big name from a BFE college. What he did at Buffalo and now at Kansas is flat out phenomenal.

Don’t forget, we were intrigued with what Tubs did at Ole Miss. They were a complete dumpster fire before he got there.

West Coast background? Just because you first heard of someone coaching when they were on the left coast doesn’t mean they have a left coast background. Kelly has coached most of his career on the east coast. You never heard of him until he was hired as OC or HC at Oregon, but he had a LONG career on the east coast before ever stepping foot in Oregon.

Position coach at Syracuse and Ohio State before becoming the HC at Youngstown, where he held that position for 14 years.

Leopold was a GA at Wisconsin, position coach at Nebraska, HC at Wisconsin-Whitewater for 7 years before jumping to be the HC at an FBS school, Buffalo. He held that job for 5 years and is now in his 1st year at Kansas.

Brian Kelly? He was a HC at Central Michigan and Cincinnati for 19 years before getting the Notre Dame job.

Not sure why Tubs was thrown in. He was a coach and DC on several of Miami's national championship teams. He was the DC at Texas A&M before getting the Ole Miss job.

Now we have Deion Sanders. Sanders started coaching in 2012, at a school he founded and owned. In his less than 10 years of coaching organized football, 8 years were at the high school level. Other than his days as a player, Sander has never in his career, been associated with any big time program.

The glaring fact is, no former FCS coach has ever went directly to the head coaching position at an FBS school and had major success, without climbing the ladder as a position coach at a major FBS school first.

The most famous example of hiring a coach from small school to a major program is Jerry Faust. He only had 23 losses in 18 years as the coach of a high school team, then was hired as the Notre Dame HC, where he failed miserably.

Of the current FCS coaches, Brian Bohannon and Curt Cignetti stand out with a resume and record that warrant a risk as an FBS coach. Both have been position coaches at major universities.

I think the Sanders rumors are a smoke screen.

Other than random arm-chair QBs, what reputable person has brought up Sanders being the next HC at Auburn?

Finebaum and Kornheiser are old dudes, trying to get people to watch their show. They will say outlandish things, aka Jerry Springer and Morton Downey, Jr.

Thankfully, Mullen & Meyer will never walk AU sidelines.

People suggesting them, I hope burn their tongues on something too hot at lunch.

Settle down there boss man!
This board has actively discussed Sanders for the past week along with other rumored candidates. Everyone here including me have no idea what Auburn is going to do. That's the purpose and fun of this board.
I am older than both men you mentioned and do not listen to either but I will put a dollar against your dime both know more than us.
Lighten up Ken!

Which one of them brought up Harsin's name during the last HC search?

Would this board consider Cole as credible? Listen to what he said?

He stated his inside information at the SEC office has basically green lighted Freeze to coach again.
Is Cole spreading rumors, is he implying anything or just another arm chair QB?

Because he had a proven track record of turning a dumpster fire completely around. Exactly the type coach we need right here, right now.

ETA: Same reason I listed Brian Kelly and Lance Leipold - they have a PROVEN track record of turning dumpster fires into diamonds.

Me either. We would be much better off getting Gus back over Freeze.
