I disagree. I think Cohen looked at Green and saw that the hire is what he will be judged on. I think we were all in on lane and got played by Sexton. Freeze was the back up with no other plans in place. They never saw the pushback coming the way it did yesterday with the girl from liberty engaging with AU fans. I truly think we do not have a plan in place. If we did, it would be leaked this morning.

Roberts and Cohen do not want to make that hire. That's why it was leaked when it could have just been announced yesterday after the Iron Bowl.

Again, Cohen and Roberts are making this hire.

They also don't have 5 days to wait. So this entire theory makes no sense. You think that not only will they make a hire that they never wanted to make, but they'll also kill incredibly valuable time (which we don't have) to do it?

I don't have much intel, but to me the entire timing and leak of Freeze right after the Kiffin announcement looks 100% like a massive smoke screen that would come directly from Cohen. He knows 100% what type of "pushback" would come regarding Freeze, so if that truly WAS your #2 guy, you'd go ahead and just hire him and say "the deal is done, your complaints are too late". You don't float his name and then go radio silent while the negative press develops.

Who on here seriously believes that Cohen or Roberts are "SURPRISED" by the reaction to Freeze being leaked? C'mon lol? Cohen isn't retarded, this pushback against him is the easiest thing to see in the world.

Look, it's not a secret that Freeze has always had strong support among certain PTB members. When Kiffin fell through, it opens up the possibility for those guys to start exerting their influence to get Freeze in place. So if you're Cohen and you DON'T want Freeze, what do you do? You leak the news as if you're about to hire him, and then let the hilariously predictable blowback take him out of contention.

I may be completely wrong, but that's what this looks like to me. And it agrees to what I've heard from the very beginning which is that Roberts was always going to be reluctant on Freeze. Roberts then went out and hired an AD (Cohen) who would have no reason to want Freeze either. Do you guys seriously think that Cohen took this job so that his big hire could be hitching his wagon to an ashamed and embarrassed HC like Freeze? One that he may or may not have been involved in the NCAA investigation against?

And re: Freeze: I have been very complementary of him in the past and still think he's a good coach. But this pathetic finish by him this season makes him an impossible sell.

His team is 8-4. They were 8-5 last season.

That isn't a "OMG WHO CARES WHAT HE DID, MAKE THE HIRE!" record.

He fricked himself with these three bad losses against BAD teams.

Had Liberty been sitting at 11 wins right now, he looks like a worthy gamble because the performance is too good and his team would be ranked and known. I think if that was the case, Roberts could probably be convinced to budge.
