You just had to know this was coming. There's no way we wouldn't JABA this up. I think that's why so many of us latched onto a Kiffin hire: we knew it wasn't a slam dunk hire, but we also knew that it could get so much worse.

Joe Moorehead was a HOT name when Cohen hired him. On paper he looked great and the national media applauded the hire.

No one thought he would fail like he did, and its MSU who again can’t really go out and pull a big name from another school. They are limited to up and coming coordinators, HCs from smaller programs or retreads.

What I do like about Cohen is when they realized early on Moorehead just was not going to fit, he fired him with a quickness and Leach has been pretty good for them.

Sure he has no track record as HC but that doesn’t mean he is fricking Cadillac either. He is a great coach and someone we can buy in for just to avoid HUGHmiliation.

One is an upstanding coach and an intellectual. Played his true freshman year for Utah at the age of 16. He was an FBS OC at 24. He has done nothing but great things in QB Development, Offense Shotcalling, and recruiting. He also beat Saban as a record setting QB for Utah in a bowl game that I remember very well

And then there is the embarrassing Buck tooth beaver, Freeze.

There are only so many home run coaches and they ain’t coming to Auburn.

He won't come here if he will be an NFL HC soon. Problem solved. No melt on Cohen, just looks like he will blow this hire.

Put the brakes on that until we actually see who it is. He might do a great job on this one. I hope so.

Repeating that won't make anyone care. We are better than hiring the latest up and comer, then crossing our fingers and hope it works. Do you see Auburn as a stepping stone job now? Harsin really broke you

Look, I am not going to argue with you regarding Johnson. I have said what I have said about my thoughts on hiring an inexperienced gamble/hope we get it right type right now. Maybe your boy Cohen disagrees. He made some head scratchers at MSU. Hired that OC from Penn State that was a disaster/terrible fit and was willing to do what no other SEC AD was ever willing to do: Hire Mike Leach. I like Leach but that was a huge gamble for the SEC.

First off- Cohen isn’t my boy. I’m not ready to melt over Cohen when he hasn’t made the first decision yet

Secondly- all coaches are fricking gambles. Look at your fricking duck man. People keep telling me we are a top school but apparently Freeze is in solid contention. Can’t be too uppity to have Freeze in contention.

Auburn is not going to do that to Carnell and the Staff.

Cohen hit a homerun for State standards with Leach. Moorehead was a hot commodity when he hired him also. I’ll say again, I’m confident that it has been super quiet for an Auburn coaching search. Usually by now, there are 15-20 names being leaked with a lot of them being head scratchers.

I don’t understand waiting til after the game, unless we are seriously considering elevating Cadillac to HC. I would love to know who came up with this strategy. I thought firing Harsin mid season was to get ahead on finding and naming a new coach to start the turn around ASAP.

Agreed, but what if the coach that has been targeted is also coaching today?

Freeze has other offers but is on hold until Auburn makes their mind up. The stunt Lane pulled on Twitter last night was not well received in Auburn.
This is still not over and may continue to Monday.

Waiting until after the game is 100% about respecting Caddy and letting him have his moment as HC for the IB. Naming a coach yesterday or tomorrow won’t have a significant impact on righting this ship, either. A hire just needs to be before 5 December.

It is respecting Carnell, the players and current Staff.

Nah dude. December 1st. Our hire wants to see our players before they go home for break because that’s when tampering intensifies.

I hire need to be made before Monday at the absolute latest. You’ve got to give him time to start adding pieces to the staff and get in touch with recruits.

Which is really good for State standards. Besides Sherrell’s cheating and Merlin, State is normally at Vandy levels.
