Yeah I don't think it's dumb at all. If this board is to be believed, there are a bunch of ignorant Auburn alumni who want Williams promoted to head coach. If Cohen basically has a qualified guy already lined up, why not do everything you can to not piss off those alumni?

I think Grimes is a good coach as well and would put Fickell on the same excitement level for me. Experience for Fickell being the only really plus out of those 2.
I mean, one has two undefeated regular seasons, two G5 Conference championships and a CFP appearance as an HC, and one has never been an HC and has only been an OC for four years.

Same with Prime and Dabo no comparison to what they have accomplished as head coaches but I bet 3 weeks on the board if you asked Prime or Dabo 80 percent would have said Prime.
It’s all relative. You are looking into what a particular coach can do as the Auburn coach not what they have done.
Even with Caddy if he were somehow named the coach. His ceiling would be much higher at AU than at say USF.

For the love of god read what I posted. I never said Grimes was being hired. It was about Fickell and my opinion that I would put them for me personally that Fickell and Grimes would be about the same excitement level. I think y’all have fricking reading comprehension issues
