Just because he accepts an offer doesn't mean he has to stop where he is and run right away. They do it all the time and coaches announce they will finish the season before they leave.
Kindly cite an example of any FBS head coach accepting a job at another school and coaching out the remainder of his season.

Bowl games, yeah, maybe. Scott Frost coaching UCF in the Sugar against us after taking the Nebraska job comes to mind.

But during the regular season, with games yet to be played? Doesn't happen.

Can you cite any coach that’s accepted an offer in season and left their current team?

Especially not conference opponents. Do people really think OM would let Kiffin coach the Egg Bowl if he had announced he was going to Auburn?

You just let me know when Gus has consecutive 10 win seasons in the SEC west.
As soon as Gus coaches in a West that's this bad and with OM's schedule.

Don’t kid yourself bud. Gus would been fighting for his 8th win in the bowl game with a pitiful passing offense no matter the strength of the SECw. In an odd numbered year he might make some noise

Someone shared Steven Godfrey cliffs

Says he feels it’ll be Kiffin BUT don’t count out an out of left field hire because that’s how Cohen operates.
He mentioned that Cohen really likes Sonny Dykes.
Said Fickell won’t happen.
All in all they feel like it’ll be Kiffin but they wonder why he hasn’t been offered an official contract yet. Which makes them think Cohen may have a bigger fish on the hook.
Just wanted to give some cliff notes if anyone cared.

The official offer is just a formality. They won't make one until they are ready for it too be accepted and all the terms are agreed to.

Yet he could still beat ranked teams. Maybe if all the planets align for him, some day Kiffin might can beat 2 top 25 teams in a year. But baby steps.

If Kiffin has Auburn resources, he will do that. How far do we have to go back to find a coach that hasn’t gone undefeated or went to the championship? Resources matter.

Gus lost to Navy again. Environments change.

That’s what I say. Although LCT says Godfrey is one of the best in the business and probably knows that.

If he's officially offered, he can't say there's been no offer. After how this thing has played out, if it's Kiffin I will be happy because of how he's handled it, and if it's not Kiffin, I will be happy because of how he's handled it.

Can’t remember if it was this board or the CC board but there was discussion of Kiffin interviewing and knocking it out of the park. I’d be really curious to hear how he pitched himself and his vision for Auburn Football. Solely out of curiosity. I also kind of just figured we know who he is and his body of work so I assumed it would be very informal, but that doesn’t sound like the case. I’d really be interested to hear any good coach make a pitch in an interview, I think that would be fascinating.

Need somebody on the call to pull what that recruit pulled on Saban and record the pitch.

Obviously don’t want anyone at Auburn doing this but if somebody at another school bit the bullet just to let us see one…

The only people acting like Kiffin won't happen are people on this board. IMO Kiffin is the biggest fish we can hook, Dabo in the SEC is Jimboesque. Fickell is a great coach, used to recruit down here (pre NIL), but isn't battle tested in the SEC in an capacity. Sonny Dykes minus 1 10 win season at SMU and this year is a 7 win a season coach. His record shows it

Not even comparable. If Jimbo had never had Winston he wouldn't even be a HC right now. Dabo has been pushing good to great teams for several years now.
