Take a bodylanguage class bro. Kiffin acts like Saban is some father figure and wants the Bama job. Makes no sense to leave right now.
1) How "badly" he wants the Bama job is highly speculative. I've also heard lots of people suggest that he ultimately wants another crack at the NFL. So which is it? He can't coach everywhere at the same time.
2) Kiffin generally makes moves the second they are presented to him and line up with his future goals. Does he seem like the type that is going to sit around at Ole Miss and wait 2-3 years for Bama to MAYBE call him once Saban retires (it's not like he's by default guaranteed that job)?
He left Bama for the first HC gig that came calling (FAU) when he could have waited longer for a better job. Then left that for basically the first SEC school that called him. He wants to compete now and doesn't strike me as the type to sit around for 2-3 years "waiting" for Saban.
Anyway, this all could ultimately prove to be a smokescreen. I disagree with the notion that it makes no sense for him to leave. You know what would probably feel better for his ego than hoping to follow a living God at Bama and likely underwhelming which is usually the case when a legendary coach retires and the new guy is forced to try to follow? Coming in to a sleeping giant at Auburn on a white horse, beating an old and tired Saban into retirement, and then establishing his own legacy.

Kiffin at bama doesn’t scare me…

Lane doesn’t scare me but then again, without Bryce Bama would have 5 losses this season. 2011 defense isn’t coming back

Yes I got you. Wasn't trying to contradict anything you noted. You were just relaying facts.
I just know Neal / and Tate are pieces of work about this whole Kiffin issue and it bugs me. I guess maybe passive aggressive - we are above the fray type thing. They know nothing and that's not great.

Meta you obviously disagree and that’s fine
the Bama job is speculation and my .02 and I’m in wait and see about that.

It does seem like Kiffin and Saban are pretty good friends
(although below the level of Saban/Kirby). I could see Saban throwing out little suggestions not to take the Auburn job. The relationship doesn't work in Auburn's favor.
Probably cares more about Saban than Ole Miss (anything Ole Miss has to offer is non factor vs Auburn).

The Bama speculation has been thrown around a lot and is entirely plausible. I don't disagree on that being something he would "want".
My point is, for that to happen he'd need to bunker down at Ole Miss for another few seasons while he routinely loses the big game against more talented teams. He HATES that. Bryan Kelly just beat him in year one on the job. If Auburn hires some big-name that isn't him, that's another team that routinely beats Ole Miss. What happens if A&M brings in a real OC or cans Jimbo and brings someone else in?
You can already see Kiffin fuming at Ole Miss this year and this was long before this whole Auburn speculation kicked off. He doesn't like losing to these teams that can out-resource and out-talent Ole Miss. That's why it absolutely DOES make sense for him to leave, as opposed to waiting and waiting on Saban. He has extremely high expectations on competing, that's why he generally has bolted for chances to progress his career.
This past offseason his OC, DC, and S&C coach all bolted for the same position at bigger programs and for more money. Does he have the patience in him to endure stuff like that for another few seasons? Again, that's the big question.

If Auburn is going to pay Kiffin 10/year then it's a big gamble for him to come or to wait. Bama may not open for a while. He may not be a candidate when it does.
What I'm reading isn't really changing Kiffin as the choice of all the AU writers. They're pretty much in unison that he's the target. But it's pouring water on the idea that something is going to happen soon (which frankly never made sense to me anyway).

Kiffin already tried following a GOAT coach at USC. That has to,be in the back of,his mind when it comes to following Saban who’s a bigger GOAT.

You’d have to be a masochist to wanna replace saban at alabama.
What you wanna be is the guy who replaces the guy who replaces saban.

I don't think Kiff and Saban are anywhere near as close as Dye and Bryant.

I feel like it's a PR push for us to hire Cadillac and not to Kiffin.
Whenever media suggests something, I tend to lean the other way
