Not worried one bit about our ability to get Kiffin away from Ole Miss (If it comes down to Ole Miss vs AU).

Questions are - do our boosters want him? Is Kiffin angling for the NFL - he won't mess around with another college stop?

Kiffin compared Ole Miss fans and environment to a high school level - in public and without being prompted.
He feels insulted and annoyed to be there.

Could be he wants longer term security, which sounds strange to think about Kiffin looking for longevity at any 1 place. But state of Mississippi can't give any state employee a contract over 4 or 5 years.

Kiffin ain't leaving ole miss over just money, they'd match any offer making him choose I'd bet

This is the problem, IMO. If Kiffin is able
To reload from last year’s 10-3 squad and do better this season, Auburn isn’t the only competition probably

I’ve never been particularly concerned about beating Ole Miss for Kiffin at the deal that Ole Miss can hand out. But I’m not sure Auburn would beat out others if someone gave him a 10 year deal

Kiffin is my #1, but a 10 year deal just seems insane for any coach out there, save a few.

Could be wrong, but I think he may want to prove himself in the SEC. In particular, in front of Saban and Kirby.

Another thing as to why someone would leave to come to Auburn - when you do have somewhat equal talent - Jordan-Hare is now probably the best home field advantage in the SEC, now that Florida has been down. Every two years, with decent talent, you have a great shot to beat Georgia and Alabama. Who would not love that?

LSU, UGA, and If UT keeps it up, are probably near the same level for home field advantage.

Ole Miss is closer than we are today. They also have recruiting momentum.
Yes?

I doubt Ole Miss is going to win the SEC championship this year.

Ole Miss has the same chance to win it as Auburn right now, which is none.

They won 10 games last year, and still they signed guys that were waiting and begging for an Auburn offer that never came.

Did you have Mel Tucker, Kelly, and Jimbo all in that few? I didn’t. Those all look insane to me

But that’s what desperate schools are doing right now and someone is probably going to do that for Kiffin

Hoping and thinking that we'll go 7 years and that will be fine. Is there really that much difference between 7 and 10.
5 would be the minimum for any coach, and obviously, as it stands now, the AU job requires more than the minimum.

10 was a "we are serious" flex from A&M - probably needed at the time.
10 might be worth it for Kelly. They got a proven big name.

Tucker was the weird one of the bunch. I think he has shown promise but he hasn’t won at the level Jimbo, or even Kelly, have. So that was a bit of a shock to me. Hopefully if we pony up for someone it will be a wise move.

Hiring Charles Kelly would be the most Auburn thing ever. More Auburn than hiring Rhett lashee. Frick it’s going to happen isn’t it

Kelly would probably do OK because he would bring in a boat load of recruiters, and hopefully a sharp offensive mind (who would leave for hc after any success and start the offensive merry go round).

But the AU fans deserve a spark, entertainment after crappy Bowden, later Tuberville, Malzahn, and Harsin.

I feel sure this is at least a backup plan for at least one booster because Kelly, in addition from being from LA is "tough and hard-nosed, just like Dye."

Harsin campaigning for his damn job.

PTB is pathetic for not putting him out of his misery. The guy is putting more effort into his job while 3-4 than he ever did during the off-season last year and now he is trying to placate the fat suits. Put a fork into this thread.
