No difference. We are coming off a final four. We had more buying power than Steven.

Well no Senate. He shot that down.

I'd agree with you if this was March and would want a full search. Its not, we don't have buying power for a coaching search weeks before the season.

We don't even know if these are the players Steven would have recruited if he was head coach at the time. For all we know we was thinking he was recruiting for his Bruce's system for another year.
I'd say it is a safe bet that the system will be basically the same. Steven has basically been running our recruiting for a few seasons now, so I wouldn't be too worried about personnel fit.
Who knows if he has what it takes to be a head coach, he'll have this season as a tryout period. We should be able to get a pretty good gauge if he will be able to handle a talented team or not.

In the video, will not run for Senate and stay as an "ambassador".

I feel much better about it if he still somewhat involved.

Well that just validates another poster's message that the Pearls are being selfish. Just because they love their son dearly that doesn't mean he is the best option for our well-positioned job. We know nothing about the son or his quirks. Hell he could have mental health breakdowns in the bathroom for all we know. Yes he got more responsibility last year but that doesn't mean he is ready. We should never be in a position of groveling, desperately agreeing to dumb hiring moves even when negotiating with Pearl. Just pay the man more.

He took Auburn basketball to a level I had only dreamed could be reached.
Thank you Coach Pearl!!!
Thank you Coach Pearl!!!

Why not just let him coach the non conference games in year one. There are smoother transitions but having Bruce around makes things slightly better.

Well, damn, Bruce. Thank you!
He said it is time.

That actually makes me feel better. It means he was truly struggling with the decision and know it was time to go. Doing it FOR a run and Senate without it being a true passion and then possibly failing that run would have been a tough pill for him to swallow, I'm sure.
This I can respect more.

Based on what exactly? I’m opposed to nepotism for the sake of nepotism like anyone else, but I also understand that Bruce had the upper hand when it came to choosing a successor. He could have easily left a few years ago and found a good program that would have allowed him to name Steven the HCIW.
The hypotheticals of him having mental breakdowns and sucking are pointless and lazy. We all are gonna have to buckle up and see where the ride takes us.

I doubt that.

And for all we know these are exactly the guys he wants. No one knows anything right now

Bingo. Now we get to find out if Steven actually was a great as Bruce made him out to be or if it’s a legit nepo situation like some think it is.
Wasn't Steven the defensive coordinator in our program??

Hopefully, we have a good enough foundation where we won't need a personality as big as Bruce's to keep it going. Steven definitely doesn't have that.
