He improved a lot under Harsin, not sure it wouldn’t make more sense to stay. Hope Geriner is further along.
We will be like TN the way we use social media as a weapon when we want to share our vast knowledge of running a program, or tell our athletes how much they suck. I’m not talking about what goes on here. I’m talking about those fans, some may post here, that feel the need to send it directly to the coaches and players. Frick you for those that do.
I am a mixed bag on Nix. Yes he should get bigger shoulders to handle the burden of being Auburn’s QB, but I can just imagine the shite social media attacks he and his family has to endure.
If I were a college athlete I would remove all social media accounts or at least let my NIL team handle it for me. With the access to directly contact athletes it’s more than any athletes before social media had to endure. I wish him the best whether he stays or goes. He has played his heart out despite some of his flaws in play, and the shite support around him in some positions.

Bo is listed at 6’3 214. Totally fine, but certainly not elite.

Were you even here for the Sean White era bro?

Same, I'm mixed on Bo. With a good offense he's very serviceable, perhaps better. Will take care of the football, keep you in games, make some timely throws and runs. But in general he isn't going to go out and put games on his back, he's going to go as the offense goes. He's also not going to go out and have a huge day in a shootout, most likely. LSU was a notable exception - he won that game.
Next season, I don't think he's dynamic enough to get us in the mix unless the offense is much improved. So if that isn't going to be the case, I'd like to see someone else, be it Davis or Geriner. I don't think that's likely, but both probably have skillsets (on paper) that are better suited for making a mundane and limited offensive personnel set more threatening.

I can actually agree with all of that.

I wasn't advocating for myself, I was trying to convey the cringe factor involved with crowning yourself. Or even wanting to be king in that regard.

Man no disrespect but you really just typed that you think Davis or Geriner give us a better chance to win next year? Did you people learn nothing from the last two weeks?

If you can’t see the talent Bo possess then that’s on you because everyone else can. Bo has elite speed for a QB, almost elite arm strength. The dude is what 6’3” 220? Perfect size.
Physically he’s extremely gifted. Mentally he is scrambled eggs at some moments. That’s the issue.
I am surprised you think Bo has elite speed and arm strength.
Elite quickness, yes. Elite speed, no.
ELite arm strength, no, not with any accuracy, on deep balls.
I do think he has improved tremendously under Harsin/Goff.
I think he can improve even more if he stays, IF, we can recruits some starters in the transfer portal, and a couple of our current OL, stay 1 more year.
He needs improvement in his WRs too. Guys like JJ, who can get open so easily, and improvement from Hudson who has potential as a very good WR. We still need a speed guy on the outside.
Bo, even if he stays, gets those improvements I suggested, he still will not be drafted any higher than 3rd round.
He is the type of QB that someone else posted earlier who needs a good core of skill around him for him to be consistently very good at QB.
I love him for his love of AUburn, and want him to go out with a positive career here, so I hope he stays, and that also allows us to groom Geriner, for 2023.

Not really
Davis/Geriner are, in theory, more dynamic QBs than Bo IMO. Whether Davis can present a passing threat is apparently an open question, whether Holden can play big time football is another, etc. I'm not making any claim about whether they can fill the role, I'm just talking about on-paper skillsets.
I think Bo is our most likely chance to win 6-9 games next year. I think the likelihood of losing a bunch of games is higher with Davis/Geriner. I also think the likelihood of hitting on a QB who rises above the circumstances of the offense is potentially higher with one of them than Bo, and if so, it would provide the added advantage of breaking in a new QB ahead of 2023.
In summary:
Bo/mediocre offense - Results similar to this year, maybe a little better. Low risk, only modest reward. My opinion is that Davis/Holden could offer higher risk/higher reward, and it may be worth the gamble if the likely outcome with Bo is another mediocre season before having to make a QB change in 2023.
Bo/much improved offense - Ideal place to be; not sure how likely that is. If this was the case I'd definitely want the safer option in Bo to take advantage of improvements around him.
Couple of other thoughts:
- Of course, the wildcard would be a much improved Bo Nix who is somewhat less dependent on the performances of others. I thought we'd have that this year, and I think that prediction was partly right, partly wrong. So him recovering and taking another significant step is a caveat for me.
- If Bo comes back I don't think any of the above really matters, he'll play regardless of whether there might be other viable options. This is largely hypothetical.
- I also think the risk of starting anew in 2023 COULD be mitigated under Harsin as he's shown more willingness to make a change (thus, Bo and Davis/Holden could play). I'm just not accustomed to a coach who plans for the future yet.

Nix appeared on The Next Round radio show Monday and was asked about his future at Auburn. Nix explained he’s just a few weeks from graduating and while Auburn will always be his school, he was non-committal about returning to the Tigers in 2022.
“I have graduated in three years. That was my goal coming in, so Auburn is definitely my school. I think it will always be my school. But obviously right now, I’m just trying to get healthy,” Nix said. “You know, I’m not sure what next year looks like. I’ve got to get my ankle better first, got to make sure I can play and get back to my normal self and then obviously I’ll graduate, get through the bowl game.”
