This is what I think too. Harsin did this twice at Boise State.
Call it what you will, but that's some dumptruck balls and trusting your evaluation of QB's. I could see AU picking up a 20 TD/15 INT guy for bullpen work or if Gernier gets hurt, but I think Harsin's going to roll with a Tr. Frosh.

Harsin is a fricking joke

Everyone here gave Harsin props for benching Nix during a game for TJ. IT was the right call, even though Nix was better. The team needed a change or that game was lost.
Just like today. Did anyone think TJ could get it done by the time the game entered the 4th quarter? For the love of God, at least try the other options --- or and call me crazy, maybe stop beating your head against the wall by calling pass plays the guy cannot hit.

I'm sure it sounds nice typing that out, but there's no way to know if that were true.
I mean we scored 13 points. The literal worst we could do is score 13 less. I would have muuuuuch rather lost 17-0 than watched us lose 17-13 with a QB that never even had a chance to win

How about just lining up in the I and running the fricking football?

If college football's irreverent product doesn't get any better with an extra year removed from 2020, I'll argue that it's a perfectly fine time to be a shitty program. Unwatchable as frick.

Anything other than what we did.

TJ was 19-37 for 227. Tank had 5 of those for 68 yards. So on non-screen passes, TJ was 14-32 for 159. fricking awful.
Was there anyone that truly felt Finley was gonna roll out there in the 4th quarter and lead us down the field to win the game? Did ANYONE really believe that?

Besides not playing DD. Harsin made some boneheaded calls today and this season.
Posted on 12/28/21 at 3:22 pm to RockyMtnTigerWDE
The key today was the offensive line was depleted by those leaving and opting out. A band aide approach was tried to put an Offensive line together. Just because Tank runs for eight, the offensive line was not good enough to open a hole to get two. Hell, TJ couldn't quarterback sneak for one.
Gus inherited a reasonable offensive line at UCF. He'll get them to the bottom of the new Big12 in short order.

Just look at it this way.
Finleys passes were so bad there was no way they would get intercepted.

If there was a scintilla of Davis being better, or just providing a spark I think Harsin would have tried it. I hated this about Gus at times but Harsin seems similar with this one aspect. Finley is not turnover prone and takes care of the ball. Maybe Davis puts the ball on the ground or throws picks when the bullets are firing? Just a thought. I just can't agree Harsin wouldn't have tried something he thought would have given a better opportunity to win the game. Put yourself in the same scenario in your own career. Sometimes you may have to eat a little shite but ultimately you want and perhaps need to win.

Point is that beyond the line of scrimmage, Finley is awful.
I agree with you on Davis. He must suck. However, you know Finley can’t win the game. I’d rather see the other kid give it a go just to verify what I’ve seen in practice. What’s there to loose?
Bo was CLEARLY better than Finley. I never understood the call to replace Bo.

I get all that and concede it all may be accurate, but TJ was horrible in executing the plays. Failure was already there. Try something different for a spark, maybe to even make TJ sit to gather himself being replaced.

Just want to point out that the $21 million man with tits never had a losing record, and was even 1-0 in the Birmingham Bowl. Spending $21+ million to get noticeably worse wasn't the plan was it?
