True but Daniel Cobb was our QB and those Spurrier teams still felt invincable to me. Also we had already been blasted by Syracuse and were coming back to back nailbiters against low point MSU and low point Vandy.
I'm pretty sure we were depleted by injuries, maybe in the secondary? I feel like remembering maybe a young Rob Pate being forced into action made us all feel like we were even more doomed.

Tore down the goal posts that night… ran my fraternity brother to the ER the next morning for a broken ankle clearing the hedges in front of the student section… these are the memories of AU FB that make me smile

Yeah… I’m in my early 40s… growing up those 90s spurrier teams felt unstoppable… prob how kids feel today about Kirby at UGA or how the younger generation felt about Saban at bama.
For me, winning in the swamp in 94 will forever be hard to beat…. But damn it if yesterday didn’t come close.

for those not old enough to remember, the ending of our last road DSOR win was pretty epic as well:
Spoiler Alert: it also came down to a FG attempt in the final seconds

quote:Ahhh...the September 29, 2007 matchup where Auburn freshman kicker Wes Byrum kicked a game-winning 43-yard field goal to upset No. 4 Florida 20-17 in Gainesville.
Twice. He kicked the first one, and it was good, but Myer called a timeout as Byrum moved on the ball, so the ref waved it off. Byrum lined up again, and the rest is history.
During the final seconds of the game, Florida head coach Urban Meyer attempted to "ice" the freshman kicker by calling consecutive timeouts right before the snap. Byrum actually swung through and made the kick during the dead-play whistle, had to reset, and then cleanly drilled the official 43-yard field goal as time expired.
After sealing the victory, Byrum famously celebrated by mockingly performing the "Gator Chomp" right toward the Florida crowd and sideline. When asked about the consecutive timeouts later, Byrum said they helped make the kick easier.

Not to mention Spurrier trying to run up the score when he had the ball with under a minute and a lead and threw deep against the best secondary in college football.
Yep! Brian Robinson came up huge in that game. Calvin Jackson was the guy who took the pick six 99 yards in 93. I have no idea how I remember his name because he wasn’t at Auburn very long.
