It used to be a consensus you dont play instate teams that could possibly beat you. Apparently that has changed for Auburn University with the new AD

were already breaking norms by playing an instate team so who knows, a home and home may be a possibility with this AD

thats my point.

Do you think for a second that South could actually beat us?

Even in 2012 we beat Louisiana Monroe of the Sun Belt. Hopefully Auburn head coach Rhett Lashlee will lead us to victory over the Jaguars in 6 years.

The 2012 team wasn't actually bad. It just quit.

Since when have we ever had a home and home game w/ an instate college other than Alabama?

You are not thinking right....

Chex is really struggling in this thread

We have a marquee OOC every year.

Travel to Penn State in 2021!

North Carolina should be good next year.

Chex was probably drunk and didn’t recognize that Baylor was on the schedule that year. So he changed the conversation to be about in-state opponents.

Anyway, future Auburn football OOC headliners:

2020: North Carolina (Atlanta)
2021: @ Penn State
2022: Penn State
2023: @ California
2024: California
2025: @ Baylor
2026: Baylor
2027: @ UCLA (Rose Bowl Stadium)
2028: UCLA

Good with all of those. Cal and UCLA will be fun.

I wish our non conference looked like this every year:

South Alabama
La Monroe
Southern Miss
Troy

We play LSU, Bama, UGA every year.

With the playoff now it’s win and your in. And recruits don’t give a frick. All our games are on tv. I don’t see any reason to schedule “marquee” ooc games and risk a loss.

It actually has boosted our status the last 2 years, as both teams were ranked ahead of us. And after winning them both, it propelled us into the top 10 or higher in the top 10.

The problem has been we can't get over the hump of losing to LSU and then finishing us off w/ losses to GA and Alabama.

But those early top team wins has kept us in the conversation till at least the latter part of the schedule.

I do understand y’all point but feeling good for the first half of the season is worthless if we don’t win the games that matter.

If we beat LSU, UGA, and BAMA we are in the conversation. A win vs Oregon is nice I guess but will you really give a frick if we finish 8-4?

If we beat those three teams and win the SEC we are in the playoff regardless of who we play OOC.
