3 tackles and he looked really covering Antonio Brown. Kept Brown mostly in check, only big play he had was a 27 yard TD but Brent Grimes was in coverage that play. Other than that Brown had 5 catches but for only 23 yards, not sure if they were all on Davis or not.

Davis did have a PI call in the endzone, but it wasn't really a bad play bc they were already inside the 10 and probably going to score anyway so it didn't really make a difference.

I didn’t like the call. Brown was clearly pushing off in the EZ.

They threw a bullshite flag on Carl for roughing the passer.

Looks like Kerryon is averaging close to 6 yards per carry with Detroit.

But the Detroit coach is "splitting" carries between him and Legarrette Blount who is averaging closer to 3 yards per carry.

Between him and Dontavious Russell, Carrolton has done us good.

But anyway, apparently Kerryon is leading the NFL so far in something called DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) LINK

quote:

DVOA — explained in detail — as it applies to running backs, applies a numerical value to a player, per play, over an average running back in the same game situations. The higher the number, the more valuable a player is above the average NFL running back.

Sounds similar to WAR in baseball, except situationally.

quote:

Football Outsiders keeps an updated list of DVOA and after four weeks, Johnson is considered the most valuable runner in the NFL, producing a league-leading 35.5 percent higher than the average NFL running back.

Article also backs up what beatbammer was saying about Blount
quote:

LeGarrette Blount — who is splitting snaps and touches almost evenly with Johnson — has a DVOA rank of 37th, producing 37.5 percent below the average NFL running back.

So while coach Patricia has said “it doesn’t matter who’s in the game, whoever’s not in the game” with regards to the position, the variance in production between the two backs tells a different story.

Kerryon Johnson - 12 carries, 70 yards, 5.8 ypc

Legarrette Blount - 12 carries, 22 yards, 1.8 ypc

But Blount got 2 TDs because the Lions let him have let him run it for two 1-yd TD runs.

Holy shite, that's gotta be frustrating for KJ.

Can't believe nobody mentioned Josh Bynes huge day yet. He scored a TD. LINK

There was also an interesting moment where Jonathan Jones picked off Andrew Luck and Braden Smith is the one who tackled him LINK

Josh Bynes, Cardinals- 11 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PD, 1 FR, 1 TD

Cam Newton, Panthers- 21/35 for 237 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, 8 carries for 29 yards

Jonathan Jones, Patriots- 5 tackles, 2 PD, 1 INT

Kerryon Johnson, Lions- 12 carries 70 yards, 2 receptions 15 yards

Dee Ford, Chiefs- 5 tackles, 1 sack, 3 QB hits, 1 PD

CJ Uzomah, Bengals- 2 catches for 43 yards

Rudy Ford, Cardinals- 1 tackle

Angelo Blackson, Texans- 2 tackles

Neiko Thorpe, Seahawks- 2 tackles

Blake Countess, Rams- 1 tackles, 4 KR for 98 yards (long of 40)

Brandon King, Patriots- 1 tackle

Braden Smith, Colts- 1 tackle

Corey Grant, Jaguars- 1 carry for 8 yards

Carl Lawson, Bengals- 1 tackle

Bucs and Bears are on their bye week, so nothing for Barber, Carlton Davis, or Parkey

I was watching this game. Twice Cam threw the pass where the rookie TE was *supposed* to be and twice the rookie TE stopped running his pattern and the only person remaining there to catch the pass was the opposing DB.

Cam only has one other interception this year and that was a pass that hit C.J. Anderson right in the hands but, instead of catching it, tipped it up in the air right in the hands of the opposing team's LB.

Braden Smith started at right tackle for the Colts this weekend and the SBNation writer for the colts was rather impressed: LINK

Carl Lawson

On the Ringer NFL show, both of these guys got shoutouts for their play.

Said Lawson was very underrated and a good player

Said Kerryon Johnson is incredibly talented and don't understand why he isn't getting a much larger workload

Corey Grant suffered a season ending foot injury.

LINK

quote:

Reports indicate Grant sustained a Lisfranc injury, and Marrone said the Jaguars would place the former Auburnstandout on injured reserve.

A Lisfranc injury involves the displacement of at least one of the metatarsal bones. The metatarsal bones run between the midfoot and the toes. The Lisfranc joint is where the bones that lead to the toes and the bones in the arch of the foot connect.

quote:

Grant finishes the 2018 NFL season with 13 carries for 40 yards and nine receptions for 67 yards.

Panthers were down 17-0 in the 4th quarter, Cam brought them back for a 21-17 win.

Freaking beautiful job Cam to beat Eagles on a 17 point comeback.

And I just got home and randomly watched the 4th quarter... score for me.
