For perspective it's been only a week and it has no bearing on recruiting at this point so I'm not sure why there's a sense of urgency

Just fan impatience. Half of you are waiting on pins and needles for disappointment anyways

If by some stroke of luck, Gus is doing his due dilligence and hires a legitimate candidate, then it's worth it. If he's not, then all we've done is wait longer for an underwhelming candidate.

I can live with that

Lashlee leaving has been in the cards for a while now. Gus knew he was going to be without an OC for longer than a week I'm sure. For perspective, can you confirm that you are a pretty Asian chick? ASL?

Marcello's update last night was he doesn't really have one. He's getting conflicting info from his sources and basically says anything he would report now would be throwing stuff against the wall. Said it started heading that way Monday. Basically Gus is once again doing a good job of not leaking any info

He did write an article last night outlining what he feels he knows. Gus is looking for a playcaller and someone that can help renovate his offense. Experience is preferred but as search goes on that might change. Someone familiar with system doesn't hurt but experience developing QBs is pretty crucial. BM says despite all the names flying around it's important to remember Gus loves not letting anyone know what's actually going on.

Says yes Jay Jacobs and other in AU admin will make suggestions on who he should hire but it will be Gus's call to make. He does know that pros & cons have been discussed of Chip Lindsey and Mike Yurcich. Wants a coordinator on his wavelength but will challenge his passing tendencies something they tried with Lashlee when giving him playcalling duties. At end of the day this will still be Malzahn's offense but he wants someone to help him improve it and call plays on Saturday.

More like screenings.

Wondering if they've got their guy and are waiting to announce Friday for the big recruiting weekend.

I like that Gus is trying to be secretive. Too much information gets out which does not help the process. Hate to point at Bama, but they control the media well.

This OC search is a mirror of the 2016 playcalling. It's been a herky-jerky process. As we can see, Gus is not going to radically change his behavior on a different activity.

Again, a rising tide lifts all boats. I don't think you can underestimate the value that good news announced early in the week has with 18-year-olds and general community around them helping them make their decisions. Defensive recruits influence offensive recruits and vice versa. Releasing the name of a good OC now would do a lot for the overall recruiting process.

Obviously getting this done right is the most important thing, but failing to get this done by now is beyond bad. Like our biggest competitor, Gus and/or JJ should have had an OC on deck or in the wings. Not "knowing" until after the shite Show Sugar Bowl is a pitiful excuse.

In case there was any doubt, these guys aren't great leaders at an institutional level. That's why I don't have much faith in either long term. It's not one thing. It's many.

saw this and just needed somewhere to post it. This has definitely been most of us at some point during our Auburn fandom.

If you bring in a proven pass guy with QB development skills and lights out recruiting wouldn't it be easy for that OC to incorporate the run game we are using with passing? How hard is it to add 7 plays to the mix?

I love that you guys literally have no idea what's happening in the OC search yet you're convinced that we're on the verge of collapse.

Kiffin just tweeted out a pic of the auburn plane saying "#missuguys" so I guess you can say the coaching search is going well

I saw that... we've probably been reduced to Kendall Briles or Noel Mazzone

I will quit if we hire Mazzone. Don't even know how to respond.

Lets compare to the UT OC search (taken from main board)

quote:
- Could Tennessee’s offensive coordinator search wrap up soon?

It’s been two weeks since Butch Jones started the search and Mike DeBord went to Indiana. It was thought early on that Mark Helfrich could be the guy, but signs since then have pointed to tight ends coach Larry Scott, who just finished his first year on staff and doesn’t have coordinator experience.

Utah State assistant Mike Canales has reportedly interviewed with Jones, and he could be in the mix for the quarterbacks job if Scott is promoted. Former Rams assistant Chris Weinke has also reportedly drawn interest.
