I bet Chip Lindsey is hired within a week.

I bet this OC search takes a while and jacks up recruiting.
Recruiting is already worst than 2012. Hopefully the new OC brings in somebody.

Colbert County, Chambers County, Pickens County. It doesn't really matter Justin, it's all the same strand of shite.
Anyway, now that this little spat has clearly run its course I'll get back to my original point that you #jangalan'd all over, which is that I think Chip is an adequate hire.
Lindsey meets our needs which are somebody who can develop a QB and has a history with good passing offenses.

Would much rather have someone with no ties to Malzahn, if they do hire someone with ties I want Spavital. I'd be happy with Jeff Scott though.

Not sure why Spavital seems to be a fan favorite. Nothing suggests it is better or worse than an average hire

I mean, if I could pick any available candidate it'd be Sonny Dykes.
You can't always get the big name though, and that's okay. Big names have to earn their rep somewhere. Malzahn and Chizik came to Auburn as essentially nobody and became some of the biggest names coordinators in CFB.
And personally I'd rather hire somebody like Lindsey who's hungry and ready to make himself a name as opposed to a Chip Kelly who's jusy going to bail in one year, won't want to recruit, and would probably be looking down his nose at the south the whole time he was here.

He may be off the board soon. He would be my #1 choice FWIW

I'll take anyone who:
knows that the TE is eligible
has a decent, somewhat disguised version of the WR screen
has options to the RBs other than the wheel route
That and Stidham should be enough.

Surprised that elsewhere Helfrich's name is being discussed with some degree of seriousness. Thought it'd be unlikely but maybe not so much.

Not sure why people think it is so easy to make a big "splash" at a coordinator position
Coordinators that have a long history of success and can recruit are looking for HC jobs not a new OC position
If there is a coordinator that fits that description looking for a job, they must have a ton of baggage to be unemployed at this point or at a lesser job willing to move to AU

Guy wasn't a good HC but he has a long track record of success as a coordinator at ASU/ Colorado/Oregon

I think all the guys being mentioned fall into that category. It's just the fact that most of them are more of Malzahn's children.

Yep plus his offenses were still decent as HC. I don't know how he'd recruit, but "I used to be head coach of the Oregon Ducks" is probably a solid start

McMurphy posted that the new OC will run the offense which makes it seem (refreshingly) like Gus has seen the writing on the wall in regards to his ability at running an offense.
I truly believe this new OC will have full control over the offense. Hopefully this means the coaching staff too. Gus knows this season could very well be his last.
