Off topic but the AU football Facebook page posted a video of the players seeing the new locker room. It looked pretty sweet finally done and lit up. I know one was posted a while back and was pretty meh, but it looked good all lit up.

I thought the same thing. The early video was very meh, but it looked much better in the new one.

Tega will be fine. He had some good play and bad play last season, but he's likely to have improved a ton. He has Grimes coaching him instead of Hand and I cant stress that enough. I think a large part of why our O-line was not very good last year was Herb Hand. Sure he prob still has inconsistencies at pass blocking, but i'm sure its way better than last year considering he has locked down LT. I'm actually not really concerned about O-line. Sure we won't be one of the best in the country, but we have an upgrade in coach, two great guards, and a sure upgrade over James at RT, and I think Tega will end up being better than Golson was at LT last season.

I've seen a couple of people say this but he literally had to do nothing other than beat out Bailey Sharpe.

While true, you had 3 guys battling for the RT spot, and if Tega was sucking arse, I think one of those competing for RT would have moved to LT. The fact that there was no talk of reshuffling at LT to 'get the best five on the field' should tell you something.

Did we not try Discoll, Troxell, and Ashley at LT? (legitimate question) I think it's a little much to say he only beat out Sharpe when we have essentially been rotating everyone this offseason to get the best 5 on the field, yet Tega was the only one who was able to lock down his position.

I'm not sure if those RTs moved around to LT or not. I'm not worried about Tega fwiw.

On a side note did yall see JB Grimes say yesterday Calvin Ashley needed to lose some weight before he can really help us. Sounds like he doesn't want to do the things coaches are telling him to get on the field more

Ya I think of everything Grimes said this is probably the most disappointing. He pretty much said that once Troxell gets strong he can start. But for Ashley it was "lose weight" & "get tougher". Not exactly glowing endorsements...

I did get impression Nick Brahms has a chance to push later in the season. Grimes seemed high on him which is encouraging

Also my boy Kameron Stutts got some love. He's the next mauler inside

Think Coe is gonna open the year at Buck

Sounds like he's trying to light a fire under his arse by calling him out in the media like that. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Coe possibly starting thing is a motivational tool and Moultry still starts.

The fact that Coe can play any position on the DL almost makes him too valuable off the bench to start this season.

Its huge. I dont understand the massive amount of open space in the middle of it though.

Well it sounds more like he's not picking up the playbook/assignments. This can take time since Moultry is relatively new to the position outside of a few standard rush the passer plays from last season.

According to the guys at 740 in Montgomery, Boobie is pulling away in the RB race.

This is how I read it. He said it wasn't an effort thing, so it sounds like Moultry is still just inconsistent, so probably missing assignments here and there.

Impossible.

How can he be pulling away when he spends all his time in Lafayette?

Probably so they can address everyone together instead of people having to crowd around the segmented room like they do now. I'm sure there will be stuff that may go in there so it isn't just open floor, but that would be my guess as to the design.

So...I've been scarce around here while trying to piece together how another team might scratch out a bowl game. How posi- or negatiger should I be? Have Gus actually said anything in the offseason or has it been the same script?

Insider notes from PM. Nothing ground breaking.

- Driscoll has been impressive and is in control of RT. Trox will likely backup RT and LT.

- Seth Williams is a stud

---Head coach Gus Malzahn’s mention of two fumbles in Wednesday’s scrimmage brought out concerns about ball security. One, we are told, was on a center-quarterback exchange. The other was by Boobee Whitlow on a ferocious blindside hit from defensive tackle Dontavius Russell. It’s unlikely, I was told, that any running back would have held on to the ball.

-Stidham looks like a poised vet that's headed to the NFL

- The secondary is deeper than last season and as talented

-- The front seven is “just nasty, deep and talented. Somebody might be better there, but if they are, they are really good.”

-- If redshirt sophomore Calvin Ashley is to reach his considerable potential, he needs to get meaner and tougher both and physically and mentally. (and lose weight per grimes)

If the o line comes together, could be a really good season.

Off topic, but has anyone been watching the Alabama Training Days episodes following them through fall practice? Even if you hate them, it's hard to not be impressed with what they have going on there.

I wonder what other programs, including Auburn, look like in comparison.
