I agree I'm not very optimistic.I like Gene as a person but he is in over his head.I don't want to dump on him while he is going through the loss of his mother, but he he sucks at developing players.

I'd agree, but this guy's post seems to go along the same line as what Phillip Marshall apparently posted from the OP.

Tommy T beat a lot of people. He was a good coach. Too bad that he decided to throw in the towel on the recruiting trail. I wouldn't mind Strong, but I don't know if we'll get a guy that a school really wants to keep. I don't think Chiz will get another gig too quickly if we're forking over $212k a month. At some point the money will be a factor, that's why the Petrino thing makes sense.

And ULM beat Saban.... These little ploys are everywhere. In 98 AU was obviously trending down while Ole Miss was trending up.
Major difference than Tubby bringing Tech back (IMO)
doesn't have anything to do with our search because I hope Rhodes or Patterson isn't in the mix.

He doesn't. As the commissioner, he's going by the PR book. It wouldn't look too good for the league commissioner to endorse an adulterer like Petrino, but in reality, he could care less who hires him in the SEC.
Petrino put a lot of money in Slive's pocket while at Arkansas, and he'd do it again at Auburn.
