Sonny Galloway was let go in the fall and Butch was hired soon afterwards. That spring, We were 20-30, 8-22 in the SEC. Now Butch is arguably our best coach ever.
Guys didn’t sign up for Steven, they signed up for Bruce. That’s a big deal IMO.

Why would anybody sign up for Steven?
Even Georgia's coach is better than him and guess where we like to recruit.

We’ll know in 1-2 mos how next year will most likely go IMO.

We will soon know.
And maybe a top 50 roster that is committed to play for him and him alone will yield better results than a top 30 roster that might be somewhat pissed they aren't playing for Bruce? Just a thought.

Our team was like 15-7 heading into February. I dont think being pissed at Steven was the problem. Steven was much of the bigger problem down the stretch and a changing of jersey names probably wont change that.
It's ludicrous for you to even suggest players were pissed at Bruce after you knighted for Bruce's underhanded maneuver for so long.

Eh, I don't think it's a stretch to say when you don't like playing for someone that when the going gets tough, the truth comes out. Lose a couple of tough games and have some a-hole coach you didn't commit to yelling at you could fall on deaf ears.
Now, there is no doubt that it could just be the Steven can't rally a group. Most people aren't built to do so. Certainly most aren't built like Bruce.
Just saying, it COULD be that a group that commits to play for him and only him turns out a little better for him on the court.

What's
But I give you the stead fast determination to own the possibility of being right or wrong.
However nothing you've listed proves this is as good a team as you content. It's way more likely than simply played above their head for a game or two. Nor has there been a rubber stamp on SP's coaching prowess, nor proof that Bruce would have done substantially better. And for Christ sake preseason rankings no longer apply after the season ends.
And at the risk of being ignored again: this school doesn't appear to have the money to buy out a first year coach, hire a better one, and improve a roster without hurting the football side of the equation. So you better pace yourself before blowing out a head gasket. And then maybe you'll be able to say I told you so.... but I'm certainly not hoping to see it.
ie: this season sucked and it was on most everyone

I'm not happy about it but he's getting a second year so this discussion is pretty pointless. My personal opinion is that Stephen should have cut his teeth somewhere else. He was not ready for this job and i don't think he ever will be. I hope I'm wrong

I love how yall choose when our quad 1 wins matter but when it's to discuss our roster those are wins that automatically dont matter. But if you want to talk Steven then our last 10 games dont matter (including games against inferior rosters), but those quad 1 games do!!
Ludicrous indeed

I like it when your wishy washy dreams cling to more iron clad arguments than this. Not even hopeful Jang can run with this.

There is video of Steven trying to do this.

I figured this season would not be great even with Bruce. But it was worse than expected. And honestly I’m not that hopeful it will be any better next year.

I've stretched much further than this.
Easy for players to talk a big game like they are behind their new coach when things are going well. Start losing a few tight games in the meat of the season and it gets a little more revealing.

Yeah 10-12 brand spanking new players is not bullish for Stevie.
You act like we need a brand new roster

How is recruiting his own roster going so far?

Isn’t this sort of portal driven?
I hope we can right the ship.
I think Freeman, SWA, and Jovic can improve.
Overton has one more year.
Pettiford might come back, but the portal may give him offers he can’t refuse.
So we certainly need a real rim protector and a legit point guard.
Oporum? I hope he gets the help he needs. Maybe he can be a depth big.
Bashir? I had high hopes.
Magwood? I guess he leaves.
Walker? He can shoot, but can he guard?
