quote:he definitely fit better in our offense. It worked out well for AU but I miss have a pure knockdown shooter.
Powell’s numbers in SEC play at UT are poop… in our offense he might get more looks, but idk.
Maybe Lior can give us that a few minutes per game when his foot heals.

For sure… lior just isn’t athletic enough to get open like Powell is… plus Powell is a decent ball handler.
Barnes runs the classic roll-the-ball-out-there offense… but his teams always play great team defense, so it makes sense Powell is a bad fit… he needs structure to get him open… and there are better defensive guards on their roster.

Didn't see the play in question but some guys are just soft/injury prone. TyTy seems to be one and the Wheeler kid has some definite issues. Their head coach whining and complaining about the legality of screens shows it comes from the top.

He played a minute or two against A&M. He missed a 3-pointer

our offense should go through the post every possession
I don’t think it has to go through the post because our passing into the interior can be so bad. We have gotten a little better with entry passes but more importantly when we are going to wait until 12 seconds before we get into our set plays reversing the ball would make the guards defending spend a lot more energy.
Now when in transition anything goes drive the hole quickly or shoot quickly.
Plus if you reverse the ball you can run a screen on the back side to be able to get Jabari or Kessler in a good spot to receive the entry pass. We do a great job on ball unders but from the 3 pt line we suck with entry passes

Yes Lior had been injured got in the last minute or so and had an open look just rushed the shot. But I agree a 2-3 minute stretch in each half just to spread the floor would be good especially when Zep and KD are in gives a good spot up shooter.
When we go high pick and roll Jabari is the spot up shooter in the corner if help comes to double team Kessler.

Wheeler is 5’8” and a flopper. TyTy has just had some tough luck. Soft tissue injuries have nothing to do with being soft. Actually the more muscles up you are the more likely to have soft tissue injury because of the tension put on the ligaments. So stretching and flexibility comes into play in warmups and staying warm and loose during games.

Hang the rumor of Powell was when He had his injury to his head he went out to a bar and got into a fight. And possibly with a teammate because he was out with a head injury with flashing lights. Definitely got into Bruce’s dog house.
Granted no clue if that is true or not but that was/is the rumor.

Rep me bro (and everyone else). What I wouldn't give to be there.
No one is to be able to speak for 3 full days - leave it all inside the Pearly Gates. It will be worth it and every AU fan there CAN make a difference. You have one job.

I'm hoping Tenn loses to UK and Ark and those ticket prices drop.
Posted on 2/13/22 at 8:49 pm to RandySavage
Beat UK lose to Arky. Then the UT game might not even matter in the conference race. Being up 2 on UK would be huge.
Posted on 2/13/22 at 8:56 pm to CorchJay
I get the ticket prices, but yes, I'd feel much better being up two games on UK with us owning the tiebreaker.
And, can anyone remember if ANY LEAGUE has every put 4 different teams in both the playoff (who eventually wrecked their competition to play for it all in a sports calendar year?
How awesome would it be for AU and UK to be #1 seeds in the Tourney. And meet in the final 4 or championship game. fricking awesome. And I am cheering for every possible team to make the Tourney and go as far as possible, until AU.
And I don't keep up with baseball or softball or womens hoops too much, but the SEC seems to be at the top of the collegiate world there too.
In basically every sport from tennis to equestrian to gymnastics, I mean the SEC is wrecking college sports. All of them.

If UK and AU both win out in the regular season I expect both to be 1 seeds. I think UK would stay a 2 seed with 1 more regular season loss. I think it would take 2 losses for AU to fall to a 3 seed.
I think it would take 2 losses and a 1 and done in the conference tournament for us to fall lower then a 3 seed and that’s only if the top 10 were to all have good end of the season records 1 or less loss.
I say all that but I want the regular season championship. Anything can happen in a tournament

It’s basically SEC vs PAC12 (and maybe some BIG10 schools)
Gymnastics is Florida vs Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Utah this year. This should change soon starting next year (SEC has some highly ranked recruiting classes coming in).
SEC is also pretty competitive in swimming (UGA and Florida) but ACC teams (NC State, UVA), Stanford, Cal, and Texas are the national powerhouses, currently.
Volleyball is mostly dominated by BIG10 schools and the PAC12 is competitive
