He's got four legitimate pitches and throws in the mid 90's. Once he had change of pace pitch he's going to be a nightmare to face. The fact he has so many strikeouts with everything coming at a similar velocity is impressive.

Off speed/breaking balls - somewhat of an important pitch.

Are you trying to say Mize doesn't have an off speed or breaking ball?
Because that might be the stupidest thing I've heard all day.

I think he’s trying to say mize’s difference in velocity between fastball and breaking balls isn’t a huge gap....
I mean he’s not a power pitcher, but his fastball is damn good... combined with unreal pitch placement and slider/split finger makes him unhittable.

How did the draft end up affecting our baseball recruiting? I’m sure most if not all turned down millions to play for the University of Auburn.
Top 20 cruitin class?

Maybe he'll take a look at how much Mize improved his stock here and sign anyway

No, I’m saying all his pitches are relatively the same speed, meaning he doesn’t have a change up that’s 15-20 mph slower that makes you look stupid.

He has a splitter that is 10 mph slower than his fastball that does that for him.
Having a huge velo difference isn't needed and can actually hurt in pitch appearance.

No, Mize definitely has an unusual pitching style: he pitches like a Japanese pitcher. Its super low fastball use and heavy on cutters and splitters. There s some worry regarding the amount of cutters he throws. His breaking pitch (his slider) is usually his fourth most often thrown pitch in outings, which again, is very unusual by North American standards.

I agree with you here. If he had 75-80 change up or 12-6 curve, they would definitely be recognizable. Right now everything looks the same and you have no clue how it’s breaking. But the timing for his pitches are pretty similar.

Rivera gone....the rest coming back.
Also sounds like Davis Daniel is coming back unless the Brewers offer significantly more than what he's slotted at.

They are really capped at that slot.

There are some really shitty teams left in these super regionals. If we can figure out how to beat UF, we might have a legitimate chance at winning the College World Series.

Will we see Mize vs. Singer this weekend or will the pitchers be staggered to not face each other?
Could be the series right there if they are pitching against each other.

Butch said today that Mize will pitch game 1 on Saturday. Haven't seen who UF is throwing
