Hell, I'm happy when Auburn boys win bass tournaments, I might as well be happy with baseball too.

if we beat TAMU I feel like we've locked up a regional host and would almost rather we lose to rest up for the regional at that point

Is there a chance we may host now? Even if we lose today.

Yeah there is still a decent chance. A win today should all but guarantee us hosting.

Mize is struggling recently, which does not bode well for the regional...

Some of the At Bats in this game have been miserable.

This will be 3 starts in row that Auburn’s lost... he didn’t take the L in all of them, but still it good.

We are still playing ball. It's double elimination.

Auburn has lost 4 out Casey Mize's last 5 starts.

In those 4 losses, Auburn scored 8 runs.

In those 4 losses, Mize pitched 25.2 innings and surrendered 17 earned runs.

So we're not scoring runs for Mize on top of the fact that he's been surrendering a lot of runs late in the season (close to a 6.00 ERA in those 4 losses).

Not a strong season's finish so far for Mize and the team seems to want to sit back and relax and admire his pitching when he's on the mound on top of it.

I think this definitely is a factor. Knowing you have an ace on the mound (especially one predicted to go first in the draft) is going to change your approach at the plate. You couple that with Mize being off and it's a recipe for disaster.

Also, the fact we continue to struggle with junk pitches is a little worrisome. I wish I knew the solution to this, but I was the same way in high school.

Mize's cutter is so nasty. Left a few too many fastballs over the meat of the plate and paid for it.

Doxakis had that slider eating our lunch for sure. He was dropping it in perfectly. TOUGH pitch for a right handed hitter, especially when it starts waaaaaaaaay outside and bites right across the outside corner.
