Sucks that it easily was the best offensive game we've played in terms of ball movement, guys moving off ball and team play to find the open man
We had one our most efficient games against one of the top defenses in the country.
....... but we lost by 20

If we run the offense as well as we did tonight vs any team left on our schedule, we should win every game by double digits
Our defense may blow but that offense can outscore any offense left on our schedule

This is like watching a bunch of NBA players in an all star game. No one plays defense or rebounds.

Florida is good and killing everyone right now. Best team in the SEC.
we play Zero defense. That has to change.

Lost in this is how good our offense looked. We avg 114.5 pts per 100 possessions compared to UFs #5 ranked 89.5pts per possession
That is despite us shooting <30% 3FG and just under 70%
Our defense blows, but Florida is a top 10 efficiency offense. No team left on the schedule has an offense/defense that can hope to match up with what we did last night
..... unfortunately we will find a way to refer to bullshite

It didn't help that Florida couldn't miss in the 2nd half. Even times we'd contest the shot they still made them all. One thing we need to quit doing is jacking up a 3 just because the other team makes a couple.

Mustapha Heron's defense......

It looks like this historic loss woke up a lot of sleeping giants in the media / fan world.
Obviously no one is calling for BP to be fired but everyone expected a better product than what we have.
The good thing is people are now paying attention to Auburn bball

Mustapha Heron's defense.....
I like his potential, but this entire year I have been disappointed in him.
I don't care that he can make ridiculous, contested shots when he heats up. He frequently gets burned on defense and he is a black hole on offense who never passes

He's averaging 15 and 5 a game? What more did you expect? He's also shooting the ball really well for someone that came out of high school not known as a "shooter"

So does the whole team

Our offense 75% of the time is isolate someone with the ball. Heron, Dunans, last night it was RJ. If Pearl isn't going to change the offense then I rather have Heron 1 on 1 than others...

Did you even watch the game last night? If you did, you'd see Bruce's offense just destroy the #5 efficiency defense through passing, off ball movement and unselfish play. Most of our "ISO" plays were off screens for RoJo/Bryce and they ended with assists or points
Auburn's defense may have sucked, but that was easily UF's defensive game all year. Most points allowed by >20, most points per possession allowed by a wide margin despite Auburn's poor shooting

So does the whole team
Not every player on the team was a 5*, none of our 1-4 were even top 60. The problem is that Heron has not shown any improvement yet he seems to escape all criticism

Probably because that is all Mustapha does and 25.3% of our possessions end with him. Mustapha has the lowest assist rate of our 1-4, has the highest shot attempt rate and a pretty high TO rate.

Heron is having a good year and been instrumental to our success. That doesn't give him a free pass for coasting on talent and not improving his game
The criticism is because we all should know he can hit the next level. It's tough love
More to the point, Heron should have a Sindarious Thornwell type game from USCe. The difference between Heron/Thornwell this year is that Thornwell doesn't force shots that aren't there and plays hard on D

watched highlights of the game last night...it seems like Bryce had another good game of driving inside and getting great passes off to the big men that he opened up like what we occasionally see out of TJ. Granted, the Auburn highlights only show the decent plays, so I don't know how well his game actually was, but the little bit I saw looked really good.

He had at least 2-3 3PTers rim in and out that looked money.
Bryce did extremely well all game driving and dishing. If you include passes that resulted in FTs for our bigs, he'd probably have another 2-3 assists as well. That doesn't include when Wiley/LaRon both missed a couple good passes

Wiley really does have some butterfingers sometimes. I know he'll get that all figured out but it's kind of frustrating to see him ready to receive the ball and then just go all Featherstone on it. (yeah, random necessary roughness comparison thrown in
)

May not, soft hands are trait you either have or don't.

He's grown some 3-4 inches in the past year + thrown into the fire of SEC play, got to believe it will improve.
Not saying he will ever have great hands, but it is different than say Chubb

I believe our offensive numbers were up because Florida wanted to make this a run and gun game. They dictated how this game was played and they said the more possessions the better.
Posted on 2/15/17 at 11:52 am to Rig
That doesn't explain why our points per possession was the worst rate UF has given up all year
Especially since it wasn't like we just shot our way into scoring. This was one of our worst 3PT shooting games and one of our best 2FG% games against a great 2Fg% D team with subpar FT shooting
Edit: The high offensive raw output was due to the tempo of the game. The actual actual offensive efficiency was due to AUs great game
