IMO if a big time QB enters the portal and we can get him I say cut bait with both the Upper classmen. That would almost double the cash flow for the QB position. If we sign the QB then take a lower serviceable backup to keep it honest. I agree our o line and coaching is definitely making our qbs look bad, but if our line stays shite then the backup can lose games like we have been recently and will cost less

I was wondering who would be on our OLine next yr

I’d move Ellis to guard and keep Lew at C (I’d assume he is coming back)

Daniels is a leader. Arnold is not. Thats the difference. You can count on Daniels to be coachable and execute a game plan. Arnold is a Primadonna only-child whose mommy and daddy have told him how special he is all his life and because of that he has zero resiliency or leadership skills. Give me a kid at QB with moxey like Daniels all day long over a 5-star pussy who is too busy reading his own headlines and counting his money.

Unless we can convince him to take lot less money but he has some leverage left. He can show Ashton with Freeze versus without and blame Freeze. Dont write his obituary yet

I just dont think he can be fixed. I think Hugh bought a lemon. He does have the same problem Thorne did so maybe it is as simple as hugh's deficiencies. But he was like this at Oklahoma and here.

Call me crazy but Jackson has done less than Thorne did in my opinion. Thorne had (A few) good games whether folks want to admit or not. He even played with heart and showed grit in solid moments. He was also good at a Big 10 school while Arnold was just more physically gifted without ANY of the same accomplishments. We took a step backwards with even more experienced talent PARTLY because of him, and MOSTLY because of Freeze.

Because of the turnaround of Ashton with and without Freeze, it's now harder to say that everything is on Arnold. He might have just been trying his best to execute the Hugh Freeze offense which had dogshit results. I still say keep it going with Ashton and ship Arnold out of town but it's now clearer that under old leadership there was such a low probability of success on offense.

Can you imagine how hard that is going to be to do that? How are you going to compete with other programs out there for a big time QB?

We are where all QBs go to die these days. Auburn has nothing to offer them that is worth while right now.

I love the idea but unless Tom Brady comes at QB coach and offensive coordinator, that is going to be a tough task Gump.....

You're not crazy. Thorne would lock in when things were going well and he didnt have a bad arm. The only redeemable thing Jackson had was his legs. I do believe he has a talented arm bc there's a bomb he threw on the run at Oklahoma that put my jaw on the floor but that doesnt matter when you need the receiver to have three steps on the guy covering him to throw the ball.

If all Auburn had to lean on is results on the field, you're right it would be a tough sell. Money talks, however - and without Freeze out there living in the past with his offense it might just be OK.

Yeah I wonder how Ashton would handle his side of it. You have to assume he's gonna expect to start and want a raise. And how attractive we are to a portal qb is gonna depend directly on the hire. That's kind of a pessimistic abused lover way to look at it but I can't really blame anyone. We've been Whitney Houston to the SEC's Bobby Brown the worst half of a decade.

This program has killed QBs for a while. Hell, one of the leading QBs in the NFL took off from Auburn and he was a lifetime fan. Since then, its been one shitty QB after another.

What very good QB in their mind would come here right now? Offensive line has been shite for a while. Coaching has been shite for a while, program in general has been shite for a while. We are a losing program that has no idea how to win

Every team is paying players. Dont act like Auburn is the only program with needs and capital. We are not.

Continuing to change coaches, bringing in losers to run the program then just doing the same thing over and over again.

I agree with what you are saying. If Nix can show 8 more quarters of the same offense it would flip the whole offensive pitch around. I was making the point assuming we bring in a coach who has had good QB play recently. These 2 reasons on top of our WR room(assuming they return). Is enough to give even the most pessimistic man hope. Its not as sure Yes but its not a sure No. Along with money, thats 4 reasons that gives us as much chance as any school to bring em in Spots....
