Top 16 host regionals and then if they win those they host the super as well. Upsets do happen in the tournament tho

Yeah Dietz was every bit as good as the starter.

Feels good to take the series because Arky has a pen full of absolute dudes.

Could have clarified major sports but should be implied.

But you didn't you said any sport. Butch isn't even at the level of Hal Baird yet.

If you say big 3 then he is still behind Jordan, Pat Dye, Tubs & Gus as they have won conference championships. Chizik won 2 plus a Natty. Shug also won a Natty not to mention other coaches in other sports who have been highly successful.

I am not saying he is a bad coach but pull the reins when saying the GOAT.

Knowing our history in baseball it is incredible that you say Butch is better than Hal at this point.

* Auburn head coach (1985–2000); Auburn record 634–328 (.659) — school’s all-time wins leader.
* Overall head-coaching record 779–394–1 (including East Carolina).
* Led Auburn to two College World Series appearances (1994, 1997).
* Nine NCAA Tournament berths with Auburn; three NCAA regional titles (1994, 1997, 1999).
* Two SEC Tournament championships (1989, 1998) and two SEC West division titles (1987, 1995).
* Every Auburn season under Baird produced =30 wins; two 50-win seasons (1995, 1997); school-best 50–13 in 1995.
* Coached 13 All-Americans and saw 51 players drafted to MLB (notable alumni: Gregg Olson, Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas, Tim Hudson).
* Honors: ABCA Hall of Fame (inducted 2021), Auburn and East Carolina Halls of Fame, Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame,
named an SEC Legend (2013) and region Coach of the Year (ABCA/Diamond Sports South Region, 1994).

I grew up in the Baird era. Yes he was a great coach but Butch is better. What Butch was able to do during his early tenure under the “state lottery scholarships” given to in state players in other states to baseball players (they were legitimately earned) but Auburn and Alabama’s baseball programs were capped at 11.7 scholarships over I think the roster number was 28. That’s a lot of non scholarship players. Compared to other conference opponents getting their 11.7 and then adding basically any academic lotto scholarship player was essentially 25-28 players vs 12.

Corch, 100%. I didn’t say we was yet but could be if he gets a championship. Coach Baird was good but what Butch has done consistently is beyond anything we’ve had. Especially In this era of SEC dominance also. Anyone that doesn’t see this hasn’t followed us.

So you are saying that Butch has it tougher than Hal?
I call BS. It was similar back when Hal was coaching. NIL has been a game changer in baseball. You can believe what you want to believe but people spouting that he was the best coach ever and oh he had it harder than others. You can literally buy a team now. He has a great park & facilities. There are those that do more with less.

I think coach Joe Urso pound for pound is a better coach. We may disagree and that is fine. We are in different eras but as of right now He isn't the best that has ever been at Auburn in my opinion. He may turn out that way.

Woo. 1st off, I never said Butch was the best we’ve ever had. He could be before it’s all said and done. Im Saying everyone needs to appreciate what he is building. I appreciate CHB, but Butch is building consistency and growth in the program we’ve never had. It’s incredible. People bitching about the past few weeks r clueless

I was there for Baird era. He had some fantastic season like the 94 season w/ Bellhorn and Waggoner. He peaked with the Vestavia pipeline in the 90’s. We may not like it, but he was arguably the 3 best coach in the state in his tenure with the likes of Shollenberger/Wells, Abbott and Kittrell.
