Is there a larger version of that placard out there? Kind of small to read.

Does AU win this by 2 TDs?

Guess I'll go with no, because of our weak Dline and poor LB's. I'll say 31-28 AU type game.

I predicted AU by 7 last week, but I don't have a real good feel on how this one will play out.

I think we can stop one dimensional teams... ASU is heavy on the run and has a new starting QB. Johnson will sell out to stop the run, much like we sold out to stop the pass last week... I think we win by 2 TDs, but the familiarity between the coaching staffs doesn't give me confidence.

fwiw, I nailed last week's 31-24 score in brannigan's prediction thread... I was pretty confident we wouldn't cover 16 points... I'm much less confident this week, but if I had a gun to my head, I say we cover the 13 points.

I hope you're correct again.

My heart could use a break after last week.

agreed.

I just think we'll look more consistent offensively in our 2nd game, and I trust EJ's ability to gameplan and call a defense. I also don't think stAte learned much from playing a glorified high school team in week one and will still have some kinks to work out with a (for the most part) new coaching staff. Sometimes being tested is a good thing, especially early in the season.

We're you worried last week? I was nervous leading up to the game and after they scored the first TD. But once we scored, I never really was nervous about us losing.

I just keep going back to the points we left on the field. I hope that we are able to capitalize and that Cody Parkey has a boring day.

when they had 1st and goal down seven points late in the 4th quarter, I was worried... and after Mason's fumble and the resulting drive.

I DID NOT want to go to overtime with an offense that was struggling to finish drives.

Yeah, I was when they had first and goal to tie the game with about 5 minutes to go. Guess I don't have ice water in my veins like you cool hand.

Beat me low. Yes, I didn't want to see OT at ALL.

Agreed.

There was the overthrow to Coates on the 1st or 2nd drive (GM said NM was throwing it away because of pressure) +7

The J Wallace overthrow +7

The NM TD that was called back bc of the CAP hold +7

21 points there. Am I missing any other significant offensive plays that would have been guaranteed points?

I mean I thought it was weird that I wasn't nervous about it. I guess I just felt like we had control of the game the whole time.

not really... some of those missed TDs still resulted in field goals.... I know CAP's holding penalty did, and I think Wallace's overthrow did as well.

And the missed FG by Parkey are the big ones...that is 17 points instead of 3.

Wallace's overthrow

One of the worst throws I've ever seen. WR was wide arse open and all you have to do is float it and its a TD. He could've under thrown it by 5 yards and still got a TD.

No. We punted. That was also the series that Louis let a bomb go through his finger tips. We punted and pinned them inside the 15.

I think we win and cover. Your biggest improvements are usually between week 1 and 2, and I just don't think Ark St has the OL/DL to compete with us, imo. They have some good skill players, like Oku, but I think we handle them relatively easily. I know we have some questions on defense, but I think we'll improve week to week, especially with Garrett being able to play and give us a rotation at Star.

We played a team in year two of a Mike Leach system that returned 9 or 11 starters on offense, I believe. We're running a new defense and you had to imagine we'd have some issues right off the bat with handling that type of offense, if it's executed well. We basically shut down the passing game in the second half.

I just don't see Ark St being that close and I don't think they're a better team than Wash St, especially on offense. Mike Leach passing offenses are some of the best in the last 25 years of college football. It will be interesting to see how they do the rest of the year.
