After rewatch, I am hopeful

If not for an atrocious display from the defense at times, it was not that bad.
I give a lot of that credit to buster Faulkner and Philo. They were basically perfect and scheme up so many open plays. I think as much credit is due to them as criticism is due to our defense.
If the defense could have just gotten 1 or 2 stops during the first 3 quarters, it would have been a hell of a ball game. They just couldn’t stop them at all, which again, I have to think buster faulkner is responsible for a lot of that.
I have to think that is the defenses worst game of the year. If not… well….
The offense played fine, also mistakes at key times, but they did enough. Fix Byrums pick on the first drive, and can’t ask for a ton more. 5 of the 7 sacks happened in the 4th quarter when we had to throw every play.
We just have to figure out how to get a lot more out of this defense and we could still win some good games.

Hope? The whole October slate is dead man walking with the talent on our lines. I don't feel we are particularly better than Vandy.

Based on our skillset we need to throw more...
OL sucks less at PB than RB
Receivers suck less at catching than run blocking
TEs are pretty good at catching.

I mean, i didnt say we’d go undefeated. Talent discrepancy against UGA is obviously horrible.
But Tennessee hasn’t played anyone, could be a good game. LSU isn’t what people thought they were and it’s at home. OM game is gonna suck most likely cuz Trinidad is amazing but nothing you can do about that.
I think we beat vandy, and then I like our chances against LSU at home IF, and it’s a big IF, Durkin can get the defense turned around. But it’s been 3rd and Durkin for too long now. I hope he proves me wrong.

Well yes I thought of that too, but my point is just that we don’t know who they are yet. Although their QB seems pretty sporty.

I just can't buy into that - that they did enough. I'll give the offense credit for 14 points at home.
The game was over at 34 -17.
Mistakes happen, but it was a bad showing at key periods.
The first three attempts at drives were catastrophic - Pick on your side of the field after winning the toss (at home), 3 and out, then -14 yards from UF's 8.
I don't know how it could get much worse.
Then 3 and out when the pressure is on at the first possession of the 2nd half.
I've seen the "show" yards and TDs too many times.

Their QB is a true freshman but used to be a really high five star before injury.
If we are not dialing up pressure we are going to play into Tennessee's hands.
We could win if Durkin quit playing so cautious, so scared to give up a big play. Hell give up the big play! Dont let the offense rot on the sidelines

I’m not saying I guarantee we win, but I’d give us at least a 40% chance right now. I haven’t been overly impressed by lsu at any point, and Kiffin is the biggest bitch ever so here’s to hoping.

I’d love it if you are right, but I think that defense is too much for these Swiss cheese G6 jabrones we’ve got on the OL. And I think Weiss Jr. carves us up like a Christmas ham.

You’re probably right. We certainly looked completely outmatched against Florida at times. But I think the offense can get us one, if the defense can hold up their end of the bargain.

Not really. Florida changed up their D late with the lead they had and basically gave us some scores. It’s not just about the score but how physically dominated we were by Florida on both sides of the ball.
No doubt the offensive game plan by Florida was really good, but we were soft and so many missed tackles. I’m not feeling hopeful about our OL at all. I think Byrum is pretty good once he chooses to play instinctual and gets into a rhythm. Durkin got out coached and the offense is not efficient and lacks high production.
I’m just not as hopeful right now because I don’t know if you can fix the issues we have with the personnel we have. I get there were missed assignments on D and we lacked gap discipline, but that is on coaching. The physical dominance by Florida is what bothers me the most.

My hope is mostly rested on UF being much better than advertised this season. Would you feel better about last Saturday if you knew now that UF is going to make the playoff?
