He had a good line, Keon Coleman at WR, and good backs at Michigan State. When they left his numbers started going down.

But he still had to play competent and confident to get those numbers. Has he just lost all his confidence, is our roster still that far off, does Hugh just suck arse? I guess we will see

I’m going back and looking at their games that year.
Their first tough opponent was Michigan and they won that game. But Thorne was 19/30 for 196 yards and 2 ints. Kenneth Walker ran for 197 yards lol.

We could've easily won our game if we stuck with the run.

I mean he looked pretty good on the first drive. He tanked after that INT off of Coleman’s hands. He may just be a headcase.

I watched the Aaron Murray film review. The play around the 21:30 timestamp says it all about this current offense.

It looks bad for sure but if you watch all aspects once Thorne realized 5 wasn't running a route he bailed and took off. If he had scanned back to the middle of the field we had a guy breaking wide open and he wasn't under pressure when he bailed. This isn't another bang on Thorne post but just another layer of just an overall broken passing game on all levels.
ETA: Freeze it at like 21:36/37. There is a clear pocket to step up into and Coleman is wide wide open in the middle of the field for a touchdown.

I explained this when Freeze was hired. He’s a single side field read coach. It’s coached to read the side of the field predetermined.

That is pretty common across most of football though. Not universal, but generally speaking that is what you do. You look for the numbers advantage. If you have it to one side, you go there.
The problem I see, is a lot of the plays, we are going to the wrong side of the field. That is what is odd.
ETA: the plays I posted in the play along thread show some of that. Here is another one that Murray talked over. Just holds the ball so long when there is a guy wide open.
