The O played better than D but that is not saying much. (In 2nd half)

3 things hurt us in 2nd half.

1. Special team problems. No way we should have a 35 yd fg blocked that easy.
2. No running game again to take pressure off of Bo.
3. Bo got hurt on that long 44 yd pass leading up to blocked fg.

We lost Bo’s mobility and any designed QB runs with his injury.

40-0 run by MSU is so improbable that for a split second I thought someone was talking about the Michigan State game

Honestly I don’t know what to say. I’ve got nothing.

Did we blitz at all? How many times did we send more than 3 folks. They basically scored TD on 6 straight drives. Penalties hurt, but this is on Mason.

This team and coaching staff is a joke.

I don't know how anyone can justify the next paycheck Mason gets.

You don't have to be a student of the game to realize, that if you can't get any pressure on the QB, he's going to pick you apart. Been a theme all year. We rush 3, no pressure, QB has all day to throw.

Unless we Derrick Brown, Carl Lawson and Nick Fairly are coming back to play for Auburn, expect a lot more of what we saw yesterday.

I think we found out a Mason style D doesn't work against the Pistol offense.

They had a very poor 3rd down conversion, but they kept getting 1st downs consistently on 1st and 2nd downs.

And rushing with 3 mostly, didn't work in 2nd half like it did in the first half.

But remember this 1 play as the Nail.

We were down 8, 6 mins left. We just sacked Rogers and almost recovered his fumble. on 3rd down and long, TD sacks him again, which would have either made them kick a long FG or go for it, or punt. No on field ref called a penalty on the play, except the BOOTH asked for a review.
!st down MSU, and on to the killer TD.

Maybe we still don't tie it, but in that moment, the replay booth should have never entered the review. The onfield ref was right there and didn't see the play as a problem other than a clean hit. It was never TDs intent to hurt the QB. He didn't even hit helmet to helmet or lower his helmet. He simply hit him about around the shoulders.

There is an intent as to why the rule was put in, and a time and curcumstance to call it. This should not have been one.

Oh, I agree with you on the bogus targeting call, but that being said, we shouldn't have ever been in the position of that shite being so crucial. WE HAD A 25 POINT LEAD!

How many games have we all watched this year, where the opposing QB sits back in the pocket with enough time to knit a sweater? I mean, what does it take for our DC to notice that and start sending another pass rusher? We have a tendency of making average, to below average QBs look like Heisman candidates.

The responses in this thread are the least insightful, purely emotional statements, made by Auburn fans who 75% or more cannot dissect a single play from scrimmage.

The general consensus on the Rant was Auburn would be a .500+ team. That’s exactly where we are. We’re coming off roughly a decade of Chizick & Gus. There’s a tremendous amount of damage to repair.

You sound like little whinny arse bitches. “Fire him… _____ sucks and should be on the bench. Run the ball. Throw the ball.”

Let’s not act like the Pirate isn’t a great offensive coach. Let’s not pretend we’re some offensive juggernaut either.

We are 3/4 of the way through Year 1. You cannot tell me with a straight face Auburn is not a more physical and disciplined team playing better fundamentally than last year.

I am not one of those that is a DEbbie downer reactor(Sorry Debbie), but I do see it for what I think.

I had us at 7-5 this year, but what I didn't think was that it would turn on this game to get there. Actually we were exceeding my prediction up to this point.

But no way, at HOME, do you lose an 18 point lead against a team that is up and down(just like they were in our game).

Yes, I feel we are more disciplined as a team.
Yes, I feel the offense is much better and versatile than the one Gus kept trotting out there the last 5 years.
Yes, Bo had improved to help us get here.

I know the Pirate has won now 3 times on the road against a ranked team, but he also has lost some stinkers, and we should have stopped the bleeding sometime in the second half and recovered to answer their 40 point barrage.

Of our 4 losses, only one I would consider unwinnable. We were simply out-manned in regards to talent. That leaves 3 losses that fall directly on coaching, and to break it down further, defensive coaching. Penn State picked us apart. A&M picked us apart, as did MSU in the 2nd half yesterday.

If I'm game planning against Auburn as an OC, I'm putting in a lot more passes. The evidence of past plays clearly points out that we have no real pass rush, and opposing QBs will have plenty of time to find an open receiver.

On offense I can agree with this. On defense we have regressed to where we we're before Steele took over. Took half the year before Tennison started getting real PT. Lee Hunter and Robinson haven't seen the field all year (don't get me started about how Hunter doesn't fit this scheme) meanwhile the DL has like 5 people who rotate. Derek Mason might know all the X's and O's on defense, but he was zero feel for his players and for the game.

Through the first 3 quarters TAMU had maybe 100 yards passing. At one stretch Calzada went 1-8 for 4 yards.

Our defense played about as well as it possibly could from halftime vs Ole Kiff through the last 5 minutes of the first half yesterday. They played roughly 118 minutes - almost two games worth - without allowing a TD.

Which is what makes that 40-0 run so unexpected. And astonishing.
