Its just not the same. Nobody but a few butt hurt Auburn fans and alabama fans are gonna remember that game. Its not like the others
Everybody will remember the kick six. As well as 4th and 31

I hate getting leapfrogged

Freeze definitely has the more balanced classes over Gus. Gus gave us some wildly exciting times though.
My favorite metric is total recruiting pages on the recruiting threads... Gus had us lit at times

You should flip to UCF, they're right in your own backyard too

I am butthurt in how Gus went 7-5/8-4 for a decade and got negatively recruited to the point he was fired for Harsin and he became an absolute punching bag for all our main rivals.

Why is that? I merely asswered a question. Is something I said wrong?
Not sure what about that triggers some of you. I didnt bring the subject up. I merely gave facts

So you are butthurt that Gus went Auburns historical average in wins all while taking us to a natty and beating 3 #1 teams. Two in a row which has never happened in college football history. All along with giving us some of the best moments in most of our watching history?
The problem with you guys is that you only look at what happened at the end of his tenure. You forget how important he was in turning around the program after Tubbs ran it in the ground then recovering the program after Chizik ran it in the ground worse that any of us has ever seen.
And I know, he failed at Oline recruiting. Its all some of you remember. He was also doing this in the Saban era and dealing with that as good as any other coach in college football
Its all bad. Just bad all around
I didnt like some of it but I also remember the good parts

Gus brought in the 6th ranked recruiting class while on the hot seat. That is a fact. His classes weren't near as balanced as Hugh's but the pay sites still liked most of his classes.
We dont have to bring the rest of the Gus conversation in here. If yall continue Ill just bring Bo Nix in and we can all have a party.

2013 wasn’t his talent (besides NM)….nice try though

Yeah there were good parts but he drastically underperformed with his the “talent” he did have. Drastically

Great cop out. What did the previous coach do with that talent?

Huh?
2004 - 13-0
2005 - 9-3
2006 - 11-2
2007 - 9-4
2008 - 5-7
He averaged 10.5 wins a year outside 2008...

I believe we fired Tub at the right time.

You said it was talent, not coaching. We aren’t talking about coaching. Don’t switch up on me stay on topic cuz

Really no point in rehashing Gus and Nix. Let bygones be bygones and look to the future… no way Gus would have been able to compete in this era if you ask me. He’s from Arkansas and a bit too pig-headed to change. He gave us some good times and wins, and ran a clean program so thanks to him.

His greatest success was a gimmick negated by a single rule change.
His style of football was perhaps the most dull, mundane thing I've ever watched.
He had to be forced to even acknowledge the defensive side of the game.
His recruiting is the reason we're in the deepest hole I've seen Auburn football in during my lifetime.
He had some good moments, but he needed to be gone years before they actually made the move and we're paying for it now.

Did Gus not recruit some of the O players when he was there from 2009-2011
He also brought in CAP in 2013 and he did very well that year.

Man F*ck Gus and all those empty memories!!
We got memories, his rivals got championships. He should have kept running the shite that worked for him. He let people influence him out of his spot. Keep recruiting the Nick Marshall's and stop worrying about developing pro QBs and he probably keeps winning.
No killer instinct, too much HS coach, couldn't finish teams, won games that he shouldn't have, but also lost games that he shouldn't have. We're 2 coaches removed from Gus and he's doing the same thing at UCF. Lets move on.

Not arguing that, but he didn't run the program in the ground.
