Well I would think an SEC pitcher from the defending national champions would qualify as a SEC quality pitcher.

But anyway I trust Butch. This year was a crapfest. I look forward to him rebuilding the roster. We will just have to wait to see how it all turns out.

Hoke posted that ECU P Zach Root may visit. He was their Saturday starter and went 5-2 with an era of 3.82, he threw 7 shutout innings vs UNC in February. He would be a lock for Friday or Saturday starter

What is it going to take to put AU back in Omaha… there are no excuses why we can’t do it

For starters look at the starting 9 for the tms in Omaha. They are all 6-2, 220 and the studs are 6-5 230.

Hit bombs and throw gas

I think of Vandy who has top P but no longer has the bangers. U do need a Fri night starter for sure, but got to hit bombs.

Team ERA

aTm 3.82
Tennessee 3.88

Vandy 5.18
Auburn 5.94

I see a correlation

Also UK, Arky, UF we all in the bottom 7 of the conference in hitting

Corch, cause their hitters drove up our ERA’s. u failed to add those are top 4 in hitting bombs. ?? I said bombs not ave. Look at UF, bombs but poor P.

We are at the pre BBCOR stage.

Lowest 5 HR teams - AU, Ole Miss, Miss, State, Vandy.

Kent not a great HR team but had a lot going for it - best MIF in baseball, clutch H, and overall good P.

Nope still in BBCOR.

Pitchers throw harder. Batters hit harder.

Pitching has and will always determine outcomes of baseball.

Surely u didn’t take the BBCOR bat literally. Talking about the power numbers and EV. .

In general. these dudes are so much bigger and it’s not close. Go back and look at my previous post on size, top of lineup to the bottom.

We don’t remotely look like these guys.

Recruiting and strength/conditioning… AU has to provide the scholarships instead of half arsing it. Butch has to recruit elite talent

I think the blueprint is set.

You need a 9 man lineup. 8 have to be productive members. You can allow for maybe one hole around .215 to .225 with 2 HRs if he fills a strong defensive need like C. 2b or CF.

You need 4-5 guys putting up 15+ Hrs....3 need to approach 20 or more.

You need 6-7 arms to depend on. 1 ACE, 2 solid starters, 2 middle relivers, 1 closer and one matchup guy to bridge an inning or work through a part of the lineup.

Sure looks like an added depth player…

“Primarily a reserve infielder during the 2024 season, Johnston appeared in 13 games and logged 16 at-bats. He finished the year with three hits, two RBIs, five walks and five scored runs. In the field, Johnston logged a pair of putouts.”
