Bats are struggling today, 1 hit through 5. Arky has 5 runs on 8 hits. No Gonzalez.

we are going to struggle scoring as many as we need every game. I am not sure if it's the new pitching coach or lack of arm talent.........or some of both.

Definitely need some guys to step up on the mound. Butch and Rock still trying to figure out a reasonable rotation. And they better figure it out quickly.

Allsup was beat up again, SEC opponents teeing off on that flat fast ball.

Will be swept in our first series. Arky is good but man, disappointing to see. Maybe the rankings were right.

We have the number 2 ranked class this past season post MLB draft. That’s about as good as can be expected and a tip of the cap to Butch.

We have a lot of talented young arms. Our Ace is not able to pitch yet. But those young arms are gaining some experience. They lack command a 3 year pitcher would. That’s an issue throughout the pitching staff. Location location location. Many of these young pitchers were just able to throw 90 past 8–9 batters in a lineup in high school. Now they have to develop a second pitch and locate the fastball both high low inside outside. Change speeds and eye level.

Best hope is we got some guys fully healthy and our position players can score enough to make others teams know they have to score X number of runs. While we wait for Gonzo and the youngsters to develop

This is hurting our pitching more than most people think. Having a guy that can give you 6 solid innings every week takes a lot of heat off the rest of the staff. It also allows for the coaches to have a slightly quicker hook when a guy isn't performing because you have a more rested pen.

This weekend in Arky though was the bats just not producing.

A walk and a homer by the Jags. 5-2

Jags had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Armstrong comes in and shuts it down for no further damage.

Howell doubles, gets to 3rd on wild pitch. Foster sac fly rbi to make it 6-2. Review of the play at plate confirms safe call and Jags coach argues and gets tossed.

Headed to the 8th.

Glad to get the win. Always a gritty matchup with South. Now, let’s beat UGA.

Not good news for Gonzalez, Per Caldwell:

“We anticipated and were hopeful he would pitch in Arkansas," Butch Thompson said of Gonzalez. "When that didn’t happen I just felt like we were yo-yoing back and forth. We just asked the best doctor in the world to sit down with him face-to-face. So we’re probably going to take a few more weeks, maybe up to six weeks. Joseph still feels something when he cranks it up to full speed. He still feels it a little bit. The positive news for Joseph is we don’t think there’s any surgery on the horizon or in the future for what he’s experiencing now. We think it’s going to cost us a few more weeks to get this last thing knocked out.”

Beautiful day for baseball. We should be feeling pretty decent about our chances today on the diamond right? Guys getting healthy plus getting a struggling GA team at home should help. I would love to see a series sweep against the mutts. Hopefully they look dominant!

Peirce is at least back in the lineup and hitting DH, hopefully he gets back to form quickly.

I'm haven't been convinced Foster ab issue is completely healed but we will see.

McMurray still out.

No Gonzo this weekend.

Nothing will come easy but maybe the pitching holds out and the bats wake up at home and they can win the series.
