This is me thinking out loud, but is Dabo telling recruits that OV to Clemson to only OV to Clemson if they want a spot on the team? Seems shady, but whatever. I'll update if JGT ever responds/confirms what grizzly said
I referred to this earlier when I said Dabo had switched things up. He used to do that.. and other weird things when it comes to visits, but he's relaxed on a lot of stuff. I think that's whats helping them out.

They’ve always recruited well. They’ve just never pursued the volume of recruits that most top schools do. Their average rating has been among the top 5 most classes but sometimes they’re happy with like 17 guys and call it quits

Dabo is a weird dude though. I’m interested to see how that program adapts going forward in this landscape

Wasn’t Osborne just at Clemson? He posted a pic with Vizzina and they were both in Clemson unis with Dabo.

Tausili Akana. "Akana is the nation’s No. 31 overall prospect, No. 3 rated edge rusher and No. 1 in the state of Utah for the 2023 class, per the 247Sports rankings."

On name alone (he's also a 4*), AU needs to get this guy on campus again. He visited AU, UA, UT, LSU, aTm & Texas with his Dad in early June. He's from Skyridge HS in Lehi/Alpine UT which usually favors BYU, but he doesn't seem all that interested in either BYU or Utah. He doesn't even look filled out yet in his pictures and he's listed at 6'4" 225. I would bet he's 250 when his shows up on someone's campus in the fall of '23.

Looks like JGT was correct. Osborne no longer visiting this weekend. That’s bad news, IMO. Seemed like one of the more probable in state guys for Auburn to land.

Clemson is bending us over right now

Nothing unusual. I have always said Clemson is more of an issues for us in AL and GA than Bama and UGA. Beyond frustrating watching us recruit.

That is bad bad. I’ll see if I can find out if it’s a done deal.

You can mark Crayton off as well. JGT posted he isn't coming either but Chester is

Yeah this sounds like he’s already told Clemson he’s going there and Dabo is holding him to that dumb “no visit” rule.

Definitely wasn’t expecting Crayton. Good news on Chester though

Well.. a few weeks ago I said over the next couple of months we would find out one way or the other about our recruiting. At least some things are starting to fall. We can cross a few people off and start focusing more on others.. hopefully we see some positive momentum from these visits this weekend and coming up. Def need a commit or 3 before the end of July though imo.

Dukes posted a new scoops so here's a rundown:

on CJ Allen: recently got a bump on 247 and is the #3 LB. Wiltfong put in a CB for him to UGA, but Dukes said Allen let UGA know he is adamant on taking his visit here and won't make a decision until he visits here.

He values a hometown feel and relationships and has a great relationship with CRob.

Dukes agrees that UGA leads, but thinks with a home run OV we can pull even with UGA for him.

Josh Horton: Dukes said he's moving up on several SEC schools board and he recently took an OV to UCF and was blown away said regardless of which offers he gets UCF will be a contender for him due to them being his first offer and his relationship with TWill.

Twill's wife taught him in elementary school. Florida is pushing hard for an OV and he's listening, but Dukes thinks Auburn's his leader and that a good OV could get the commitment talk going. Brumbaugh has been communicating with him and is someone Horton felt " saw him day 1 and wanted him.

Auburn's so important to Horton that his family and inner circle is visiting on their own dime to check things out themselves which includes his DL and little league coaches which he considers his little league coach a mentor. From everything Dukes is hearing we're in a great spot.

Auburn's recruiting philosophy: Auburn's leaning into a certain type of player for each position, he says there's a commonality for each player they're recruiting and staff is recruiting based on how they fit that role. The example Dukes gave was at LB the profile is 6'1-6'2 athletic LB with some "thump" a true 3 down backer.

Exceptions are made in regards to height based on exceptional athleticism/instincts like 4* LB Lewis Carter that even though he's only 6' he's so dynamic athletically his height doesn't matter.

At WR the biggest need is a rangy 6'2ish outside threat. Auburn's top target Karmello English is only 5'11 but has game changing traits.

At RB the preference this year is a smaller shifty back to pair with a big bruiser. Cobb is thought to be top target for first role and UCLA commit Roderick Robinson top target for second role.

Dukes said we have a sleeper prospect we're looking at in the bruiser role, but he can't speak on them yet. He said you'll see a lot of movement in RB targets soon.

The day we finally offer the WR I want I'm going to be a happy man lol. No idea whats taking so long considering we're not beating down the door of many top guys at the position, but it will come.

Info on Hunter. If you put in percentages it’s 80% Clemson and 20% anyone else. Auburn may not be his number 2.

Clemente posted that we hosted the #1 punter in the 2024 class Bobby Engstler of Tallahassee, Florida. He worked with ST analyst and former Boise State kicker Eric Sachse along with talking to Coach Bellantoni afterwards.

He said it went pretty good he said directional stuff with punting went well he only missed one FG. He said he'll probably be back for a game this season. Clemente said recruiting is different for specialists as they're limited to schools planning to take one and Auburn will be so we're high up Engstler's list.

Engstler said he has his list of schools that are taking people in his class but Auburn's different cause he could start earlier then he would at other schools so
that make us an attractive option for him.

Other schools he's looking at are Florida, Florida State, and Bama. He'll visit Bama Saturday and Florida State next week.

Clemente posted Karmello English has set a commitment date of July 2nd. He's currently on an OV to Kentucky and an OV to Auburn hasn't been set up yet.
