Jones what are your thoughts on Posse?

On one hand the little he's played he's put up decent stats.

On the other hand he had to sit out some games, is on like this 3rd HS, and his current team is one of the worst teams in Fla.

I don't know if he just got stuck in a bad situation with transferring and is trying to make the best of it or if we should be looking at these red flags a little closer.

I’ve been watching Prentiss lately and he’s so fricking good lol. I hope the next staff puts the pedal to the floor on Prentiss

The sell on Posse is that he’s a big, sturdy dude with elite level arm talent. You pretty much highlighted the drawbacks. 3 transfers and their team doesn’t win. I’d have to know some more about the circumstances on the transfers I guess. His offer sheet is legit

In formula car racing I see the Red Bull team was fined for over spending by 7.2 million, the budget is 145.6 million.....wonder if thats what NIL will look like in a few years

Fellas keep in mind 4100 kids entered the portal in 21 and 2900 the year before. If the trend continues upward, even a bit, more kids will enter the portal than sign schollys coming out of high school.

That is a very very rich talent pool of proven players. I think thats why the admin staff was beefed up so much to take advantage of this. It means we can fix this OL issue in a year, not half a decade as was traditionally the case.

Keep the faith, this year is a wash, but we can right this thing pretty quickly.

This is wrong.

The vast majority are unproven players and most aren’t wanted by their current schools.

quote:

There were 1,054 scholarship players in this transfer cycle who left Power 5 programs. So far, 88 percent have found a new home and 66 percent will get to keep playing at the FBS level this fall, though less than one-third ended up signing with another Power 5 school.
(TheAthletic, reference range was July 2021-July 2022)

It’s why most guys that leave Auburn don’t do shite afterward.

Only 14% of G5 players went up a level to P5. That number was like 115. In total, all the FBS schools are fighting for 400 FBS worthy players. And most of those are the sort of guys we got last cycle: rotation guys

There is an upper end to the transfer portal. And it’s very wise to recruit that portal well and I agree that a lot of this recruiting staff is in place to evaluate those kids. Those rotational guys and depth pieces are critical. It’s just rarely a going to be a means of a major roster or program shift

U can’t have a majority of the team made of free agents. Seems like that would be a recipe for disaster

Trinidad is right to a degree. We can add transfer guys, maybe with experience, definitely with some age and physical maturity, that don’t have to sit out. However, I think the pool of guys from that 400 that are OL and that are SEC caliber players is low. And I’m not sure how attractive our OL room is despite the opportunity

Breaking news:

U.S. national team member Katelyn Jong just committed to Auburn gymnastics.

She won the all around for junior women at the 2021 U.S. National Championships, and just recently won gold on floor representing the U.S. in Hungary.

Can anyone sum up the 247 thing about the 23 an 24 recruit?

Mostly wasn’t much. Except for one part

- thinks Air Prentiss is legit and helps Auburn land the other LH guys (obvious)
- said Auburn had a shot with all of them if they keep Steven Ruzic
- Auburn is putting out offers more quickly thanks to Fabianich. He has streamlined that process
- Auburn’s OC, DC, Bedell, and Friend have all not be out recruiting on the road this fall because Auburn has meetings on Fridays. Clemente says most schools don’t require their coordinators to be at Friday meetings so this is a little unusual

At least we are bearing the fruits of those mandatory meetings through excellent game planning and preparation on Saturdays right guys?

I don’t know why Friday meetings are so absolute. Move them to Thursday and have fridays a recruiting day.

Okay Jonesy to a degree then. But given the trend, that 400 number will be 500 realistically this year, the vast majority of which I would think would end up at good schools, so we could end up with a dozen or more at least.

I look at Jangs weekly grading and on the defensive side, there are quite a few transfer fellas popping up on the top 5 list.

No reason to think we cant land a hand full of OL, hopefully. And whats this business about SEC ready, does our line look SEC ready now

Just trying to keep up the optimism on the recruiting side, not a lot of joy on other fronts.

Clemente says most schools have those meetings on Fridays but it’s rare that coordinators and position coaches are required to attend
