Negative narrative is part of the Auburn recruiting experience. Every coach battles it, IMO
I've been Auburn for quite a while and don't remember anything like this prior to a coach's second season.
I know I've not seen a new coach having to find a way to recruit in a new region without being able to visit.
I know I've not seen a coach during his first real recruiting class be blamed for poor recruiting by the same people who are actively working to hamper said recruiting. This is crazy and embarrassing.

This is his 2nd full class plus he had the opportunity to finish the '21 class. So almost 2.5 classes realistically.
Anyone still making excusing for recruiting is just burying their head in the sand.

But to add to this to shut the people up all that needs to happen is win some games and start get recruits and signing people

Harsin deserves zero blame or credit for the first class (2021) after Gus was fired. Steele was the coach for the early signing period. Harsin took over in late December when 90% of kids had signed already.
2022 class had challenges that other coaches didn’t experience considering his first 6 months on campus visits were banned and June of 2021 was the first time kids could visit. None of the first year coaches did well with that ‘22 class. 2023 is different as we’ve stated plenty of times now. This class has had plenty of opportunity to meet the staff, visit campus, and develop relationships. Excuses are petty thin for this one.
That said, the floor of this class still seems high with the 4*’s on board. As they add volume this class will rise quickly. Doesn’t look like a top 10 class though which is a shame considering the in state firepower

True but this class, so far, has had a publicly stated investigation of the head coach due to players and coaches leaving even though players and coaches always leave soon after a coaching change. Of course, the GOB network had lots to do with initiating this.
A fricking adultery rumor started anonymously on Reddit, for God's sake, that people latched onto and still do.
Media and fringe fans saying that the coach would be fired before the season is over. This, primarily due to, of all things, recruiting.
I can't think of any coach that had to deal with this type of unsubstantiated negative recruiting fodder at any school and, certainly, not after their first year.

Outside of that the life lessons are don't have losing seasons at AU if you are the football coach. It's that simple. First season or not.

My original comment to Rig was that Covid wasn’t an excuse anymore. I never said Harsin didn’t have challenges. I’ll give you that many of his are unfair.
But let me be clear — I do not care about fairness. As a fan, it’s not my problem. I am solely interested in winning.

Not to mention, there were a ton of in-state schools, coaches and recruits saying negative things about Bryan Harsin’s recruiting style. It’s well documented that his “efforts” weren’t there in the beginning.
…which sucks. The 2023 class is loaded and Auburn is getting their arse handed to them so far.

Man I will be glad when the Harsin fan club follows him to his next job. Excuse after excuse for this man being paid millions who has fumbled his way through his 2 years here.

I understand that. We all do but, why do we not give the man a fighting chance?
It's frustrating and, if you look around, unheard of other than Auburn.
Oh well, we kick off Saturday and I'm looking forward to it. I also fully expect some of the GOBs and the the same fringe group as always to say he should be gone even if he goes 9-3 in his second year. You expect that as well.

Gus lived on the hot seat, constantly combating the PTB. This is nothing new.
The adultery rumor may not have been new either. That may have been carried over to Auburn. And really, bringing that woman over was just bad optics.

I don’t see how substantiated alarming recruiting concerns can be the reason for recruiting problems, but I’ve yet to see the media tote the fringe fan’s candle.

The reason wasn’t simply “players leaving.” Exit interviews by many including Derek Mason spurred the investigation.

He's had one fricking season. You have no clue what happens this year.
You also wanted the previous coach fired. Should we just start firing and hiring coaches every year? Yeah, that would fricking work.

I just want wins. I would love to be a 10+ win team every year. That's very difficult at Auburn. Our history shows we are about an 8-9 win team a year and boom about every 4-5 years we hit 10+ wins and have a chance at championships.
But to win 8 games with our schedule you need talent to be able to beat the middle of the pack SEC teams regularly.

I’ll say this. Since the 6-2 start, there hasn’t been a single bit of momentum for the football program.
Ended the season horribly, still didn’t bring in the type of recruiting class needed to compete, fired one coach while two others left (one taking a pay cut, and one while only being on the job roughly a month), the affair rumors, the vaccine drama, overall lackluster recruiting effort, large amount of players deciding to transfer, etc
The writing is on the wall with ADAG being gone, IMO.

You don't know what Mason's exit interview entailed. You hypothesis was also found wrong during the investigation.

You have no evidence of this at all. You repeat an anonymous Reddit rumor because you want it to help your cause.

You're being obtuse by putting the chicken ahead of the egg to support your cause while ignoring what I said.
Goodnight.

KN and JLee put CBs in for us for Adam Hopkins at 60% confidence and JLee put another one in for us to flip the Arky St commit at 65%
ETA: KN wrote a post about Fabianich saying he's reached out to numerous people (coaches, etc.) who are in Auburn recruiting targets inner circle to learn more and better position Auburn. KN said he's personal, engaging, and intent and getting Auburn where it needs to be.
KN spoke to a source who said he's wanting to know all the ins and outs of recruiting not just what Auburn's doing right, but where they can improve as well. KN said he's spoke with some people linked to big name targets and Fabianich made a strong initial impression and they like him.
KN said he met him at BCW and he seemed friendly, looked happy, and enjoyed talking with others.
