but it would hardly be a gigantic surprise if we beat AL or Tenn at home.

It will until we prove we can win one. Being close is moral victory stuff.

We can beat any team at home Bama or UT. Not saying we will but we can and probably will. If Bama is red hot shooting on the road at AU then I’ll tip my cap to them.

The rest are toss up games except Bama on the road. We can beat UK on the road. Will it be easy? Nope but UK is a lot like us. We will be favored at home against OM and Mizz. Win at Vandy and maybe steal one at A&M and could be looking at a 2 seed in the conf. Not saying that’s gonna happen but not saying it isn’t either.

Last 8 I have us like I said going 4-4 11-7 In conference. The 4 seed in the sec tournament. 7 seed in the dance with 21 wins. Any win in the sec tournament will bump us up 1 spot on the ncaa line possibly.

I mean sure but we are within the margins of winning these last two road games. No reason we can’t get it done. I’m extremely confident we will win one of the big 2 home games. Very intrigued by Tuesday. Hoping we can take personally what they did to us at home and respond accordingly.

Telling me we can and doing it is two different things.

Ole Zep a roo gave us a triple 0 today. His defense was decent for his 16 minutes but he wasn’t enough.

Which players are going to step up?

Jaylin was the disappointment for me today. Played scared the whole game and he’s been doing that in some of the bigger games other than West Va

Jaylin is a quality second wave player. If he was on the bench then my ten verses your ten makes sense. He is basically Purifoy.

I think he has good potential but is limited by confidence issues. I think that’s why Pearl has been trying to gas him up for a couple of years too. Like that layup he missed when we cut it to one with 20 seconds left was terrible. He had the size and step advantage on defender and threw up a weak reverse that Broome had to clean up. He potentially could have gone up strong and gotten an and-1 to tie the game

It’s all moral victories until it isn’t. Not saying this team will do anything close to what the 2019 team did but that team was having a very similar regular season to this one. It lost to every good team it played until the last game of the regular season.

I think all we are saying is this team is right there and that’s just basketball. You just want to see that your team is competitive with the good teams and then hope for a breakthrough. You don’t see that coming with this team and that’s understandable but I just don’t see this as a throwaway team at all. There are ways for this team to get better and a lot of season left. Being able to handle the lesser teams as easy as we do is a good sign.

That’s 2 games in a row.

I like Zep. He plays great on ball defense but you’d hope your starting 2 would log a single stat in two games.

I’ve never been a big Zep guy. Idk why he plays. His on ball defense is solid but I think a bit overrated. He’s a zero everywhere else. Can’t blow past any defenders, can’t really shoot, doesn’t have court vision. He doesn’t turn it over which is good but we need creators. I’ll live with a little risk

We can beat UK on the road, but two words: “Refs” and “Rupp.” We just thought today was a screw job….

I’ve never seen a flop technical on a shooter. Such a trash call. My god those refs hated Wendell

Haven't seen anybody mention it, but not having Cardwell today might have been the difference...
and the shitty refs.

Definitely. Broome getting gassed early pretty much took away our best chance at offense in this one. Not to mention how much he could have helped on the glass, both ends. Hope he is back soon

I really don’t like the comparison.

1. That team was a veteran group of players that got better after the regular season championship that ended up a dud in the end. That team also added a significant complementary player that added toughness that we didn’t have the prior year in Malik.

1a This team is also following up a SEC run however it lost its main cogs. The complementary players never really worked out. The team doesn’t seem ready to flip the light switch on.

2 That team did lose a few games but we aren’t talking about playing to win. We are talking about playing to get better. I saw the potential in that team in our Duke loss that year. The losses were frustrating but we knew what our pieces were capable of. They could run and shoot. Everything came together after we eeked out a win against Georgia thanks to Chuma.

2a) This team doesn’t have the straw to stir the drink. This team doesn’t have go to assassins. It doesn’t have chemistry. And it doesn’t have the 3 ball. We have to have the equivalent of 2015 football offense right now. Our team looks like a plan that missed on a variable or three.

1. Malik was on both teams.

And the main point was that they spent most of the regular season looking mediocre against good teams. This team isn’t going to the final 4 but there is a wide gulf between the final 4 and a throwaway season.

I’ve been saying all year this roster reminds me of Arky’s roster last year. Their team last year was built very similar to this one except Jaylin Williams (Arkansas version) is better than Broome

Well, I knew what they were capable of doing. The team basically won the SEC with 9 the year before. 8 once Anfernee went down. I had no doubt they could turn it on- they had already done so before. There were no regression issues then either. None of our guards then were likely to score 0, much less in consecutive games.

What has our current team done to make you think a run is imaginable?

Well we are extremely good defensively. We also have shown the ability to really turn it on when our backs are against the wall which could bode well for tourney time. Those are some good ingredients for a decent little tourney run but you just never know. The thing that can change on a dime in basketball is that after you win a game like todays (if you can) suddenly the confidence permeates through your whole team and you start making some of the 25 3’s we missed today.

Gotta find a way to get over the hump. I’m looking at JW and KD personally

Bro we went into last year’s tournament needing those two players to turn it on. Why are you doing this to yourself.

Jaylin actually had a decent game in the tournament, but there was just too many that needed to start answering the call.

Doing what? I have no expectations other than that this team should make the tourney. We’ve all accepted this is the least talented roster of the last 5 years and probably will be the least talented of the Bruce era going forward. That doesn’t mean with some good coaching and confidence it can’t be better than it is right now
