He landed hard on his hip/side in the UF game IIRC,
and was slow to get up, looked gimpy.
I am remembering this correctly aren't I?

Northwestern just knocked off Indiana on the road. They might be a tourney team after all

We seem to have far more trouble after a week long delay…1-2 so far and the 1 win was struggling against a subpar UF team at home.

Our NET ranking stinks we are 33rd. KenPom we are 19th

Without digging into it, in theory, that means the best is yet to come with this group. KenPom being purely predictive based on analytics, and NET being a mixture of analytics and resumè

I think that’s generous with how we’ve played so far. Plenty of time to turn it around. Great home win, now time to take it on the road.

hip/side

Might be hip or side but after I made the comment about Dylan being unhealthy completely I had heard it was his lower back prior. Then as the team came out after the half last night Cardwell had on the lower back brace I think with the stimulant inside of it I would assume to keep the lower back muscles warm and loose

Bruce just said they came up with the offensive game plan about 10 mins before the game

The “shooting a bad shot is better than dribbling and turning it over” game plan?

I lol’d when he said that, but he’s not wrong

I'm not questioning whether it is a lower back issue, I was trying to pin down when it happened. I know from experience that you can land wrong on your side/ribs/hips and cause a back injury.
I was looking for confirmation that the play I remember from the UF game was when the injury happened.

He’s been noticeably less explosive

And less on the court. He's only played 18 minutes total the past 2 games.

Is Westry resting knee?

I know he struggled out there, but initially it looked like he’d get more PT than Donaldson.

Donaldson got a chance and just played better than Westry. I think that's where that came from.

Westry has struggled offensively and has been absolute horrific defensively. However, if he is healthy enough to play I'd love for him to get a few minutes at the 2. We aren't getting a ton offensively from there anyway.

But at the end of the day I trust Bruce.

I’d be fine with him eating some KD minutes on bad KD nights (which has been every KD night this season basically)

Yeah I could see Westry getting some KD minutes if he’s healthy. KD’s offense has been below average but we have to play him because of what he brings to the game defensively and energy wise. To his credit, he loves to guard and frustrate other teams. Although, he’ll still give up a bucket or two going for steals.

Yeah I weirdly like having KD in there when we are on offensive droughts because I feel like he can get a steal and easy bucket to break us out

I'd like to see KD drive and try to stay away from contact and see him go to the FT line 6-8 times a game. Since he got to AU he has gone looking for contact and they aren't giving it to him now. Maybe avoiding the contact and making the bigs reach for his shot creates a true foul.

I feel like 90% of our offense is KD or Wen driving for a foul. We aren't getting those whistles this year.
