The problem is not the backs, not the OL linemen. The problem is a blocking scheme that has not changed. There are only a few NFL linemen who can make the trap blocks we are asking our linemen to make. Consequently, our "power" run game doesn't consistently get runners out of the backfield. Forget getting to the second level. The read option is still viable but, you can no longer count on disciplined defenses running themselves out of position.

For MAR to get quality PT Shivers will likely have to transfer which is possible.

Scheme is definitely in question when teams like Minnesota, Boise, UCF, etc produce much better results with far less talent.

It's so damn frustrating watching the vast majority of FBS teams with actual offenses. The Gus offense needs to be thrown in the trash at this point

Back to recruiting if that’s OK...

5* OT Tommy and 4* OC James Brockermeyer are visiting Auburn in February. They’re also visiting Alabama on the same trip. Looks like Auburn, Bama, Clemson, and Texas are the top schools. They’re Texas legacies.

They visited for the iron bowl so it’s a big deal that they’re coming back for another visit. Gonna be a hard pull from Texas despite what recruiting insiders say

I'd be willing to give Gus 2 seasons to throw his offense away and give an OC a chance to install something that would actually work on a semi-consistent basis.

Have you seen some of the things he's said on social media & his mom said on AUFamily? Sounds like they may be ready for a change.

If my kid were a player I would stay so far away from message boards

We have some recruiting news that will be popping up the next days and weeks as the games, camps, and visit news comes out.

Let’s try to keep the thread on the rails

And Gus' way of using him would totally frustrate me as a player in my second year.
He carried 1 time in the Alabama game.
He carried the first run of the bowl game, 1 in the 2nd qtr, 1 in the 3rd qtr, and that was it.

I do feel he is not an all round back and Gus uses him to see if he can get a quick long run, but he couldn't do it this year.

His claim to fame will always be the winning TD in the Iron Bowl...and maybe his last.
He needs to play somewhere he can play more, but possibly a smaller school or conference.

I didn’t care to watch the all American game. How did Tennison and Tank do?
