Anyhow- Wrong again. I don’t particularly care if our stone handed TEs catch - they’re not WRs.
They should be. Irv Smith had more receiving yards and TDs than our lead WR last season.

I don’t think any of us wanted Tucker Brown (no offense to the guy) catching 4-5 passes every game. The other option was Shenker and he took some time to develop into a reliable blocker and route runner.
I don’t think Fromm is going to change the TE position for us but if he can block, run routes, and catch then we have more options.

We haven't had the threat at TE we need for sure, though I'd blame a lot of that on how we've used them. Fewer want to come here.
However, we should have some this season and if we can snag some, they would be really dangerous for us. Problem is we still have to use them well. Even Lutzy we used poorly. Wheel routes are great, but let your TE take up the middle of the field. Let them be safety valves instead of having your RB just standing out in the flat.

Well said.
I love Gus as a person. I have lost faith in him as a HC. That being said, I am hoping he can turn things around. I just want him to realize.......... it is not illegal to throw in the middle of the field.
Due to smoking the reefer in my younger days my memory isn't great. I remember Tubs, I think it was against UF, wore them out one game using the TE down the middle of the field. People didn't even realize we had a TE until that game.

Despite Georgia leading for another five star RB, it’s been reported that Tank is a take.

Exactly.
I don't understand the offensive thought process with Gus' offense, that having a safety valve w/ a TE in open spots gets the offense first downs, allows the QB to not feel he has to run when the deep ball is not there, or just move the offense w/ high percentage completions to the TE.
It really baffles me. A TE doesn't have to have complex routes or great offensive skills. And we don't add it to his offensive options for some reason.

Back to recruiting...
I think UGA’s issue will be Tank’s willingness to go there with that 5* committed.

Yep. If nothing more, having a TE threaten 10-12 yards down the middle of the field on simple routes keeps at least one LB sucked into the middle of the field and should help keep some safeties from dropping way back all the time.

Swift is probably the best RB in the nation. He's going to be fun to watch this year.
